2022 2500HD, in the Arctic.
1) Anybody know why these GM engineers have to prove again (since it sucked in the 80’s) when wipers drop to park down into a non heated trough behind the hood is a failure of engineering?? Such a miserable design!!! Constantly frozen in a block of ice and won’t come back on when you need them, it’s dangerous!!  Any time it’s snowing and blowing and any temp less than 32*F you cannot stop the glaciers and clobs of ice and all the clatter and busted wiper blades…. You are lucky to SEE where you are driving in a white out.

2) anybody know why they made it so darned miserable to change out a headlight bulb? Take me back to 2005. Mash that button.

This was not even a bad day, just average snow and warm outside - parked with heat on defrost full blast for 30 minutes !!!  It will stay that way all night and all day it just builds ice and jams up. Chip chip chip chip to keep it functional. I cannot imagine trying to drive on a freeway where it would be critical to see through all the road slop and snow flakes.
Sure wish they would pull their heads out of their rectum.

I agree that any wiper design that sits in a trench should have a defrost grid on the bottom of the windshield. There's heaters on everything in these trucks, why not there.

While the headlights on the current model are nowhere as easy as the 2003 to 2007 i dont think they're as hard as many new models. 4 or 5 T15 screws and the fender liner pulls out of the way for east access. Not too hard unless your truck is frozen solid.

Same problem in Anchorage. The only solution is continuous cleaning of snow and ice from the trough, the hood and the roof of the cab. When parking the truck warm it is best to pull the wipers out of the trough and hope they don't get broken by a passing vandal. Otherwise they will be stuck to the inevitable ice in the trough. Or move to Florida.

I remember back in the day it had a 2008 Sierra half ton that had heated washer fluid.  Great idea but they recalled them all and even though i tried to avoid it, they eventually disabled it and gave ne a cheque for $100 or something due to the loss of feature.  That or a heater grid would solve this for sure.  Are you listening GM?

Snowbrush / ice scraper gets regular use here, before almost every drive in winter.

If snow is falling / blowing hard enough, sometimes it is necessary to stop during a trip.

I make a habit of cleaning out the slush/snow in that area when the vehicles get parked -- cuz it's easier than chipping out the frozen material the next trip.

It's not just the pickup that has this issue.

We are having the same issue. Just got off the phone with customer service, but nothing will done to correct this. Because the wipers set so low the defrost does not touch them. Very poor design that needs corrected soon.
