So the valve body on my 2024 3500's transmission decided to take a dump while i was towing my RV in central Texas. Thankfully i was able to get it to an RV park that had availability and was able to get the truck to a local dealer. They tell me the part is on backorder with no ETA and i was curious as to what others are experiencing. I'm literally stranded here in TX, we were on our way from FL to AZ.

I know there are some aftermarket options out there that i could have pronto but I don't want to sink 3500 into a truck i'm not sure i'm going to keep long term. If you asked me right now i would tell you its gone ASAP, my wallet may have a different story.....  I'm not really happy that the transmission took a dump at 35000 miles.

Sorry if this looks like my first post, its been a while and i seem to have lost my original account.

Maybe you can be the Guinea pig and install the next gen kit. Only $799

Supposed to fix the problem even after it has occurred but at least on this forum I don’t think anyone has done it yet.

Sadly from what I’ve heard I don’t think the lead time for the OEM valve body has gotten any better.

I dont think so. First it’s at a dealer, truck is under warranty and they are not going to install non OE parts. Second is i have no place or real way to do it. I live in my RV and travel full time, im not crawling on my back in an RV park to do transmission work with nothing but a basic set of hand tools and hopes and dreams that it will fix it and hopefully not leave me stranded in some remote place……

I know its a stretch, but will the dealer you got it from provide a loaner? Doesn't help with your truck, but at least your not stranded if you can figure out how to get it. I have a 2025 2500 and its in shop now for 3rd time in as many months of owning it. Was towed in this time and they haven't figured out whats wrong. TCS light and check engine came on when hit a bump, went into limp mode, and sounded like tranny was gonna explode each time it shifted, so who knows.

I would advise on the DIY kit from Nextgen many people using it and solving the issue with valve body: https://nextgendiesel.com/collections/10l1000-transmissions-transmission-parts/products/project-carbon®-10l1000-high-pressure-diy-valve-body-upgrade-kit

Do you remember the codes regarding trans and if you had lock up by chance?

Please reread the third post down. The DYI kit is not something practical for me to install, i have no access to a workspace  and the dealer wont do it. Im also in a town i have never been, not sure who i could trust to do such a thing and not F it up. The one guy i would trust to do it is in Massachusetts, i'm in Texas right now. Also not really keen on spending money to fix a design defect and possibly void my warranty. Why should GM be let off the hook on this anyway? They created the problem by building a faulty product, they should fix it or buy it back if they cant.

If my truck was out of warrant it would be a different story, i would probably get the entire next gen valve body and be done with it but the truck is well within its warranty period.

Saying a prayer for all of us on this Cow Pie Allison issue. I invested so much in customizing my truck for work and mobile office, till retirement. To have it go down for weeks / months as I hear on a back-ordered part will kill my machinery service business. Same as my customers when the metal cutting machinery goes down, no parts to weld and product to deliver.

Just did all the "Known" recalls at 12k mi., on my 2500 Duramax and  gave my dealer service manager, printed  copies of these terrible stories of downtime. Says he has not heard of the Allison issue. Really ?????????????????

Wow, I have a feeling he is playing dumb..... The dealer where i am stuck in TX is a small dealer, they have 5 of them right now waiting for a valve body, some have been there since Nov.  I called my selling dealer in FL just to see if they had anything to offer, they are a much larger dealer and have over 20 of them waiting for valve bodies right now.
