the truck is through evaluation and back from the bedliner. Sitting in the lot just East of I-75 and the I-69 ramp. We have to go by there later today so I am going to see if I can spot it. I know right where its sitting awaiting that grueling 11 mile trek to the dealer

How silly they don’t change their ways and allow pick up.

Lots of politics in that. It is stupid because I drove right by there this morning and could have grabbed it. Instead we waved as we went by. Its not like the dealer is going to do anything other than tear the wrappers off of things and do a half ass wash job.

Your dealer prep comment is what I see too.

Yes. We are looking at some travel out west and the opportunity for a diesel came up along with someone who wanted to buy my gasser so here we are.

I see you've answered what I had been wondering, its a gas to a diesel swap. Makes sense, for some types of use the gas has its place, but other times the diesel can do what the gas falls short of ... power and with economy. Larger farm equipment and highway tractors hauling grain on our farm, the equipment has grown far too large and heavy and powerful to be gas like it was many many years ago in my dads early years of farming as everything was gas then.

I was reading through a listing of what truck configurations Chev builds in the Oshawa plant and everything checked out accept one item, I ordered radiant red. That color is only built in Flint and imagine had I ordered a color Oshawa built it may have been built there instead. Interesting anyway but does anyone know where the L8T engine is built ?

Supposed to be Tonawanda NY.

My truck is approaching the day where it will have taken them longer to ship it the 10 miles to my dealer than it did to build it from a new order.

So are you saying your truck is headed out on a North American tour before it reaches your dealership a few miles down the road from the factory ?. If only they would allow such a close dealer to drive it or if they had their own small trailer to haul product back the the dealership as it certainly would not cost 2 grand for the shipping. But that is where the hauling companies/GM make their killing, right there in front of your face.

There are many reasons they won't change.

Legal and Regulatory Issues:
  • Direct-to-customer sales by car manufacturers are often prohibited in many states. The legal framework typically requires a dealership to handle the sales process, including paperwork, registration, and final delivery.
  • Dealer Relationships and Obligations:
Car manufacturers have agreements with their dealerships, and these agreements outline the roles and responsibilities of each party in the sales process. Picking up a car directly from the plant would disrupt these agreements.
  • Dealer Preparation:
Before a car can be delivered to the customer, it often needs to undergo some "dealer prep" work. This may involve installing accessories like license plate frames, floor mats, or roof racks, and ensuring the vehicle meets the manufacturer's specifications and the customer's order.
  • Registration and Paperwork:
The car needs to be registered with the state, and this process typically involves the dealership handling the paperwork and ensuring all necessary documents are submitted.
