2013 Silverado four-wheel drive 130k with the 4l60e I've already changed the fluid and filter and I noticed when I'm driving around town with ambient temperature around 60 70° f cruising around town my temperature will get up to 180 on the transmission is this normal or should be concerned about maybe possible slipping it doesn't feel like it's slipping I have a scanner that's capable of reading transmission live data I just don't know how to do it I've tried to watch videos is there anybody out there that would be willing to tell me what parameters and pull up to see if my transmission is slipping and possibly read it for me if I post it on my YouTube I don't know somebody told me that just cruising around town without working the transmission or pulling anything that 180 is kind of hot

I think that is normal, if you have the trans cooler in the radiator it will heat the fluid to the same temp as the coolant. you can add an auxiliary cooler after the rad cooler or just by pass the rad to the auxiliary to run cooler

Ok I appreciate it n it is in the radiator do you recommend a cer trancooler to completely bypass it with

If you have to ask if it is slipping, it isn't. Your temperatures are quite normal for the OEM set up. Would it live longer a bit cooler? Likely. Something under 160 F is perfect. Under 175 F sustained is tolerable. 

 

Coolers in the radiator have been pretty standard since the early 1960's.

That thermostat will get you in the ballpark without adding a cooler.

I have a new radiator on the way I ordered the CSF radiator with upgraded 1 and 1/4 inch core supposedly it has better cooling capabilities and I ordered the CALORSTAT 180 thermostat basically because I've had a lot of issues out of motorrad hopefully i see good results if not I'm gonna go get a tune and have the fans adjusted to come on sooner

Are you sure you don't have a 6L90 transmission that came in the HD pickups?  The 4L60 is light duty.

OP has a 4.3 or 4.8 if they have a 4L60 in a 2013.  6L80 was 5.3 and 6.2 for 2009-2013.

This is an HD section of the forum, that is why his comments were not making sense to me. The 6L90 was the only transmission during this generation of HD's.
