I’m interested in comparing the two screens and exploring the possibility of upgrading from the 7” to the 8” or any other option besides the large Tesla screens. I also have a 1500 with the Stinger Horizon 10. I noticed that it’s listed on the Stinger website as an upgrade option, but they don’t include a plug-in play kit, so I’m not sure if anyone has attempted it.

The 7” screen is the IOR module, and you are pretty much out of luck upgrading to the factory 8” IOS or IOU screens.

that leaves you with the aftermarket screens that retain the factory interface and overlay an android OS on top of it. These include the Tesla style screens and Z innovations screens. Neither these options have appealed to me after fully understanding their  drawbacks/limitations. I am just going to stick with the small screen for now.

The DONSLIFE YT channel has a number of videos reviewing these options extensively, including the workarounds for some of the drawbacks.

Hardware and software are different between the IOR 7" and 8" radio and then the IOS and IOT 8" radios.  If you have IOR you can't plug and play the IOS and IOT in its place.

Impressive how you managed to take the time to respond without actually being helpful. Really nailed it👍🏽👌🏽

Makes sense didn’t realize the IOR systems had different hardware from IOS and IOT. Definitely rules out a simple swap. Appreciate the clarification

Damn I’ll check out the videos to get a better sense, but seems the IOR might be the most headache-free move for now.

My bad. I won't be posting anything in the future concerning stuff I don't know anything about.

There is company, that provides the hardware, but it has become really expensive:

19-22 Silverado Sierra IOR to IOU GPS Navigation Upgrade

$1700-$1900

I do not think it is worth it,  I was seriously considering it when it was in the $1k range but for today I would pass and wait until the next gen come out and the pricing drop as they always do.

good luck.

Don't take it to heart, some of us bought our trucks when Covid was out and all there were only low end LT's.  Not a lot of options then.  I have the 8 in IOR and for the most part, there is not much I can do about it without spending $1,400+ to upgrade the system.

Hope you have a better day

I installed the zinnovations 13 inch upgraded screen and love it.  No drawbacks in my eyes.  Hated my 7" screen and upgrading to the 8" wouldn't have worked either because the GPS navigation upgrades require the vehicle to be equipped with On-Star or it won't work.

No deal - just the regular price less a discount code from donslife - came to $1235 total.
