can this be upgraded with more options like trailer function and other options?

this is on a 2020 2500hd that i am thinking about buying today and would like to add more programs to it and wanted to ask if it has been done by others and i am thinking the dealer would be the only one that could do it or am i wrong? TIA

Unfortunately, it cannot,  need to have an IOR or greater radio setup:

GM/the dealer can't offer or do anything.  That is the IOR radio which can't have anything added to it from GM.  

 

You can do the IOR to IOU upgrade like what KTDanforth linked, but you must have Onstar UE1 RPO code and there is no guarantee you'd get any of the features like cameras or the trailering app.  You also won't have access to any of the downloadable apps like weather and traffic, Spotify, etc.  So all you'd really be gaining from IOR to IOU is the navigation and 1 inch larger screen.

As Newdude points out there are other options for the head units.  There is a horizontal version of other MFG that let you keep more of your physical controls.  Both the above and below are good options.

It'd be the same radios as the 2020.  2020-2023 HD use the IOR, IOS and IOT/IOU radios.

 

Which means...you'd have to do the IOR to IOU upgrade posted above.  Dealers won't be able to take a used uplevel radio like IOS or IOT/IOU and just reprogram it in an IOR truck, so that's not an option.

 

IF the trailering app is a MUST for you, find a truck that has it.  RPO code is U1D on the build sheet if you find one.
