Bias is based on opinion. I look at the hard facts and leave it at that. I am biased in terms of feeling the gov is a hot mess of a colonized cover-up.  Beyond that I only care about facts.

Actually, bias is based on experiences and influence, as well as natural cognitive process. Opinions are formed in part by our biases. If one's experience is consuming Fox's news, shaft AND balls, and generally kibitzing with an uneducated crowd who thinks the government is out to take their money, then yeah, I can see what you're eating and where it's coming from. Mmm.

 

I love informed discussion about climate. However, if your "smoking gun" is the government is a hot mess of a "colonized cover-up", and climate change isn't real because someone is trying to make money, I'm done. That's some hot bovine scatology covered in horsefeathers, and tangential to the effect that industrialization has on climate.

If I bring up education, the retort is usually either something about elites, or liberal brainwashing camps (colleges/universities). It's a trained response to discredit higher education and distract from what universities really do. Guess what? I've been, and it's not what people who haven't been think it is, but a lot of people sure do change their opinions of things there. Gee, I wonder why education is under attack right now.

 

But I'm not even talking about holding a degree here. I'm talking about considering and studying the volumes of information on climate change. Anyone can choose to educate themselves as long as they can read and listen. I am not an expert on climate change. But I can poke holes in and logically sort out all the arguments which have nothing to do with it.

Absolutely,  my Grandad had a 1920 Monroe, Louisiana  1 room HS education and read the dictionary and encyclopedia Brittanica to inform himself. He was a master machinist who never made more than $10 a day. He taught Sunday school and read everything he could get his hands and eyes on. 
He could speak to anyone on just about any subject and was openminded about learning. 
 

There’s no excuse to use the internet as our only source of self education.

That's a lost art. I would say it is one of THE defining factors separating older generations (born <1940) and younger generations. The willingness to understand and listen for its own sake.

I’ll just say this without getting long winded. And there’s really no way to debate this. Because of bias. You two are definitely biased. I have changed my opinion on policy because of research. I have nothing but time. Debating you two is of course is useless. Calling a certain person a child predator is a good example. And eliminating any chance of debating. I’ve learned things here certainly. It’s mostly entertainment for me. I’ve been in a bubble working with the family and certainly in my field. You guys certainly have been entertaining with your belief structure. Your research has certainly been narrow basically to bolster your belief system. So continue with your amusing blathering. I will be amused as usual.

We're all ears, Stan. Share with us something we don't know about climate change which completely refutes what even oil companies know to be true. But don't talk politics or media or any of that, just climate science and nothing else.
