I think the point of the Tremor is to have a top level trim and features for people who want the small truck/ute idea but don't prefer its base-model, budget vehicle roots. They want a finished $12 truck appearance at a $5 truck price and this package provides that. (Ok, maybe at a $7 truck price, although 'average' transaction price of a new vehicle is approaching $50k. This is near average).

 

It's like the Ford Focus ZTS. Top level trim on Ford's budget penalty-box, it came with "leather" seats and fancier wheels and keyless entry. Automakers have done this for decades.

 

It's not my thing, but Ford thought this would be somebody's thing. I mean, it's decent looking based on the photos posted.

But then you actually drive it.  That's where things change quickly...

Your opinion is based on an off road option. The XLT would have a different feel. I spent my working life driving one tons and 3/4 ton trucks. I hate them. Couldn’t wait to be able to drive 1/2 ton trucks. Totally different feel. I drove motor homes and pulled fifth wheels for job sites. Hated those. My father wouldn’t stay in hotels. He retired we sold them. When I say they’re hot, I mean they’re all over here.

Interesting.  Well what I see is not what others see.  That was the whole reason for my post.

And how about we move along to another vehicle.  A 2025 Ford Explorer ST line that we own...It has been amazing.  Tons of room, hate the tires, they are Pirellis 275/45/21...they always want to follow road grooves...Hate those damn things and they are looking bad now at 24k miles.  I've always hated Pirellis.  They were on our 2016 Charger SRT.  I burnt them damn things off within 10k miles.  Junk.....pure junk....anyhow getting back to our Explorer.  It really is amazing.  Technology is the beast here.  We have had I don't know how many recalls, most were done over the air, that's super cool..... but yet the aux. fan died.  And there is a nav problem with it.  You can tell it where you want to go, it will respond, but the turn by turn directions are spoken so low you can barely hear them.  Turning up the volume has no impact.  They are in touch with the engineers to try and figure out that problem.  We went to the car wash in Tulsa the other day, I hit the button the retract the mirrors, it worked great, coming out, the right mirror didn't extend.  Glitchy......That's why we have this amazingly new Maverick in our yard now.  I hope you all get where I'm coming from.  Anyhow our Explorer is amazing.  25 plus mpg going 75mph.  Blue Cruise, holy crap is that too cool or what?  I wish it worked on every highway.  Rides kind of stiff but that's ok.  The ST line comes with the 2.3l turbo not the V6.  It does have giant brakes and is amazing.  It's bright red so my wife loves it...But it's glitchy....And don't trust blue cruise... you have to always be alert.  That thing has dis-engaged on me several times and I had to grab the wheel to make sure we didn't get into an accident.  It's cool, but don't let it overcome your attention at all times.

It’s sounds less than perfect as you explain. Sometimes vehicles hit your sweet spot as yours seems to hit yours. I have two that are totally unexpected. The Odyssey we use for trips and my wife’s Genesis. The 2011 Genesis has been perfect. The Odyssey after sound deadening became perfect. It’s harder to get flawless vehicles these days with the electronics. I had a Santa Fe during the warranty period that sometimes went into limp mode while passing. You had to shut it off and restart to proceed. That got traded in for a Camry that my granddaughter now drives. Before I could buy a new vehicle my mother in law gave us her CRV that I traded my daughter for the Odyssey. I foolishly gave my grandson my Avalanche because I got a deal on the Ridgeline. Great vehicle but doesn’t hit my sweet spot. So the search is on slowly for another V-8 truck.

ST Line? So it's an appearance package, not the ST with the much larger Ecoboost V6? Weren't we just talking about who in the heck would buy an expensive appearance package with things that actually take away from the driving experience, for example, low profile Pirelli's on big fancy wheels? :confused:

 

Explorers are decent rigs and I like the fact they are built on a RWD platform. But I would also not do a 4-cylinder in one of those. I'm sure the 2.3 offers acceptable power, but it's the noise/harshness. Give me an Ecoboost.

The difference is you get the look and the feel for 10K less and 1 second slower to 60.  Six seconds or 5.1 for 10 grand more. Same reason my wife has the V-6 verses the V-8 in her Genesis. If I was the primary driver it would be the V-8. They’re both pretty quick.
