That's just a dumb question. Because the engines have big enough sumps to keep the engine lubricated during the race, usually 12-14 quarts. Adding oil could cost precious time, or the entire race ($ millions and millions in sponsorships) and the potential of spilled fluids leading to disqualification.

 

But that doesn't mean they don't burn oil. Burning 2 quarts isn't unusual for a 500 mile Nascar race.

My minivan. I use for trips. My wife has to travel in the back seat so she can lay down. It’s a long story. I hated it for about an hour. I always had high performance vehicles or modified them. When it wears out I will get another one. If you spend time in one you will understand. I’ve never had a regular vehicle this long. And never replaced a vehicle with a same model. I answered because the topic was changed.

kNut, I hear ya. Minivans are extremely functional vehicles, they get gas mileage more like a car than a truck and have amazing hauling ability and are comfortable on trips. We can agree on that.

So what does it mean when I say Pepper uses no oil?  That for the duration of my chosen OCI there is no perceptible movement in level on the stick. 

 

When I change plugs on the DOD cylinders they have some oil on the threads. Normal. Explained by the above missive. So I know it uses oil. Just isn't a MEASUREABE amount by the METHOD I choose to gauge it by. The dip stick. 

 

Why doesn't it change if it uses oil? Fuel, soot, moisture in a good GDI gas motor can be up to 4% total of the oil volume so in a six quart system at change time could be as much as 7.68 ounces of a six quart system. Call it a cup. Half a pint of lost oil made up by contamination products.

The level of trolling from someone who joined on Tuesday of last week is pretty high. My guess is former member promoted to visitor who created a new account, or is using a shadow account to bypass user blocks. Just a guess. :shrug:
