Is GM offering the 1,000.00 rebates on the crew cabs? I've had one on order sense July 8th and hope it gets here before Sept 3rd when the rebates expire. I could use an extra GRAND off.

Do any of you guys use the GM Master Card? I just got $3000 off of my Envoy by using the earnings on my card.

Hey, it is never too late. You will have to buy another car / truck someday.

I saved $1000 with my GM Card.

From what I have seen, there is about a $4000 to $5000 difference between sticker and dealer invoice.  Dealer invoice is defined as PROFIT for a dealer.  It includes advertising cost, dealer holdback ($900-$1000), and dealership overhead.

If they sell to you for invoice, they WILL NOT lose money on the sale.  Most dealers themselves can only guess as to the kickbacks available for each vehicle (bonuses for total unit sales, model sales, and promotions).  A sale at DEALER INVOICE will provide a profit for the dealer.

Your job as a consumer is to get the dealer to agree to as little profit as possible.  I have found that it is best not to tell a dealer specific numbers for what you would be willing to pay.  Keep it firmly in mind and be willing to walk away and buy from another dealer.

I still have the first new Chevy truck I've ever bought 20 years ago "83". I keep these things till the body rust and the wheels fall off, then I reattach the wheels and keep driving it. I would keep this one even longer but the firewall is starting to rust, everthing else is very solid including the 350 crate motor with only 32,000 miles. I like the idea of no vehicle payments. If I get another 20 years out of the new one I'll be 60 years old. Dam how time flies. I guest all in all with the suppiler discount and the $1000.00 off for class action settlement on the saddle tanks I'll do O.K. I would still like to get the $1,000.00 rebate if it's offered on the crew cabs. I wish the thing would come in I'm excited, again it only happens every 20 years for me. :P

Hey, if I get the card now maybe in 20 years the next truck will be FREE!

03 crew cab- You better check that "fuel tank certificate" if I were you. I used one of those also and it was only worth $250. They have an expiration date on them and after so many years it drops 75% in value. Just thought I would let you know. I think it has to do with when you receive the certificate.

Mark D. The holdback for GM is 3% of invoice. There is no "profit" built into the invoice per say. It has to do with how long the vehicle has been sitting on the lot. The longer the truck sits, the more interest the dealer is paying on the truck to GM. Then with overhead, advertising etc.. the hold back is cut into quite soon. So if they sell to you at invoice, they don't lose money, but they don't necessarily make money either. The other thing is demand. I know for a fact that as the 2002 inventory was depleated, and with the 0% financing going on, as there were fewer and fewer vehicles available, the prices dealers get are higher and higher. I know when the Yukon Denail's and Denali XLs first came out, my Dad was getting sticker, becuase there were not alot around. If you want a good deal, first of all you, have to find a good dealer. Then you can go on the internet, build your truck and get the invoice price. Then basically, find a dealer that will sell you the vehicle. How much over invoice usually depends on availablity in your area and how in tune your dealer is with the rest of the market. I know my Dad tracks availablity in his area almost daily. My other advice is dont BS the dealers too much. I can't tell you how many times people tell my Dad they can get the exact same truck at so and so dealer for so much less. Sometimes people give him prices below invoice. Not smart. Becuase a smart dealer can go into the computer and pull up other dealers inventory. You look really stupid when the dealer you tell him you are getting a great deal at doesn't even have the truck you are looking to buy. In that case the standard answer is," Well, if you could buy it at that price, I guess you are going to have to go there and buy it from him." You have to realize that the dealer has got to make money too. Then after you have a price you can live with, then discuss a trade. If you discuss a trade prior to the deal, most dealers will show you more off of the sticker price and then just give you less of a trade. My dad has been selling for Buick, GMC-Truck for 35 years and I think I have heard every story imagineable. In his case, if you are straight with him, he is straight with you and he will get you a deal that works for both parties. Happy shopping.
