Hello to all

I'm a owner of a 1995 Chevy pickup with a manual trans. The problem I'm having is that I notice decreased power and a slight miss. After checking it out, I noticed that the coil is discolred on each side. I've changed three times already. Everytime that I change it the truck runs great for about 500 miles. Then I do it all over again. My question is thier anyone who can tell me what is causing the coil gto burn?

Make sure the coil has a good ground by cleaning the mounting brackets where they meet the coil and where they bolt onto the intake manifold  ...Also check the condition of your other ignition components cap, rotor, wires and plugs. If any of those,or combination of,have too much resistance, this will cause the ignition coil to overheat and fail....You can check the wires by using a spray bottle filled w/water and spraying a fine mist over them while the engine is running. If the wires have any leaks, they will spark to ground, you can see this better if the engine compartment is dimly lit, almost dark... :chevy: you should do a visual on th rest...heck,i just changed the original coil out of my '95 a couple months ago it had 152,000mi on it.But iI also changed everything else at the same time,plugs,wires,etc...I bought it used a yr ago....I hope this helps
