What are you all using for a trim plate on the changer?

They are trimming the pocket out of the upper bezel. You are probably thinking like me, What if I screw up...well I checked on buying a spare just in case, I'm not sure what GM is making this stuff from but you would think it's gold or platinum. The upper bezel which consists of the two storage compartments and the to DC power outlets retails for $195.95, I found it online at www.gmpartdirect.com for $111, but I think I'm going to see if I can find a 2003 or 2004 in a salvage yard somewhere, I am having a hard time finding a CD changer too, My dealer can't even find me a new one. The only two I've found on Ebay where out of a 2001 and won't work. If you know of a place to get one let me know, I might just risk trimmin uot the pocket rather than throw away $111 for a piece of ABS plastic...

the NAV unit will plug and play into escalades and denali's only (not sierra denali) .

Do the Sierra Denalis need a different amp? I thought that they would be plug and play also. I know the amp in my '03 Sierra Denali was different that in my cousins '03 Silverado with Bose.

It's Plug-and-Play with the 2004 Sierra Denali. I know, because I installed one on mine. All you need is the HU unit (I recommend a new one, so it won't need to be programed), GPS antenna, and DVD NAV disk. That's all. It took me about 30 min to install.

Can any of you tell me where you purchased your 6 Disc Changer? I can't seem to find one on Ebay from a 2003 or 2004. Does anyone besides the dealer sell them? My dealer can't locate one.

I called and gave them the part# mentioned toward the beginning of the thread, they told me that was not a part number it was a casting number and they could not get it to cross-reference. I told them I needed the 6 Disc in-dash cd changer from a 2003 or 2004 Denali (SUV not Sierra Denali) or Cadillac Escalade. They told me they could not locate that part or part number.

By the way, I forgot to mention, the 2004 Sierra Denali has the Y91 luxury amp. If you look inside the glove box, Y91 is listed on the RPO sticker.

That's a pretty nice plug an play ugrade for those interested in adding navigation to their SD. Total cost about $1500?

Does anyone have the correct amp for sale? I have a 03 Sierra with the Bose system and it must need the amp replaced, sound output is very low. Also, what is the modification that needs to be done when I do get the correct amp? By the way, great information, it helped me out alot, thanks!

Maybe I'm not getting it all. Tell me this, if I'm not putting in the NAV unit only adding a 6 disc changer to the stock, do I still need to modify the cable?

i'm pretty certain that if you truck didn't come with the remote 6 disc cd changer (like the denali and escalade) you'll have to modify the cable to add the 9-pin harness that connects the cd changer to the head unit. i didn't install the nav unit and just added the remote cd changer and had to modify the harness.

Well, if that's what you did and it works then I'll follow your example. I've got my cable, now I'm trying to get a changer from a guy I found that has one online.

hmmmmm, i have heard yes and No's about the sound working in the Sierra Denali without having to get it programmed. Im glad it worked for you PAT. Do you know if you have the RPO Y91 option in your truck? If you do...that would explain it.

Checked my '03 Sierra Denali and it has the Y91 option listed on glove box.

the one more modification that linda and i had to do was to cut/grind a little plastic piece behind the bezel (you'll see when you take the bezel off) area inorder to get the cd changer to slide in all the way. this is the only cutting you'll probably have to do. we talked about this on one of the earlier posts. with this little piece out of the way, the cd changer slides in perfectly and just use two tapping screw to hold it in place. for me grinding away the plastic piece provided me with an opening to run the cable through from the head unit to the cd changer.
