NAV and 6 disk changer in a Silverado

I hear they have a NON-Luxury style NAV system now....however i have no experience with them. Not sure if that means you dont need the luxury AMP or if it means you dont need the BOSE system or both. Sorry

Has anyone looked into the package that JP Customs offers that is supposed to have all of the parts and comes with a year warranty?? Might be easier than trying to locate all of the parts individually..

Does anyone know what is involved in making this nav unit work in a non-bose 03 Envoy. I am ready to try anything. People tell me it is possible and has been done. I have contacted JP Customs & they tell me there next project is the non-bose kit for this unit. I am to impatient. Any help would be great.

Have all of the parts to install into my 04 Envoy. I have the bose system, that is not luxury currently.

I need to know how to re-wire my amplifier harness to work with the luxury version (Part # 15114454)

What programming is needed in tech2? I alredy had the Security code removed and my VIN loaded.

if its a used AMP, programming is not needed. Shoot me an E-mail, and i will send you the wiring schematic for the AMP harness change. If it is new, you will need to plop down an hours worth of labor charges at your local dealership for the programming. Thats assuming they will do it for you....MANY will not. Its better to have a preprogrammed AMP to start with.

has anyone checked out the JPcustoms.com system. I am looking to purchase and they offer everything for 2225.00. from what they say you don't have to get anything programed of flashed, no theftloc or anything. Everything comes with the kit.

They only have kits for a few trucks. The ENVOY is not one of them.

OK, I have watched every post & finally decided to post a response myself.

That said, I want to point out my navigation install:

First of all, these are the part numbers necessary for a Chevy or GMC pickup that is plug & play no amp upgrade required as long as you have the basic bose package:

NAV Unit: - 15108421 (non lux) - $1250.00 new from Specmo (www.specmo.com)

GPS Antenna: - 15135178 - $50.00 from GM Parts Direct

CD Changer "Optional" - "SPEC-USA SCD-G7i" - $299.00 from Crutchfield

This is all that is needed. The Nav unit above is the non-lux version. It is plug & play with the lower end bose unit found in Chevy & GMC trucks. When I installed this head unit I noticed an immediate difference in sound quality. It has 5 eq settings and a custom setting that work perfectly. It appears that this unit utilizes the lower end bose amp perfectly. The GPS antenna is of course required and mounts nicely in the dash.

The SPEC-USA 6 cd changer is relatively a new product. It mounts nicely under the rear seat and looks factory. The installation of this is easy. Basically you install a provided jumper cable from the vehicle wiring harness to the NAV radio, it already has the split harness for the changer. Just run the changer cable to where-ever you decide to mount the changer. The head unit controls this changer perfectly (this changer is for the 03 & 04 years with the class II data bus). I also have the RSE "rear seat entertainment system/dvd" The changer does not interfear with it at all. So if you do not want to cut into your dash pockets to install the factory, this is great alternative that requires no wiring harness modifications.

Again only three parts are required for the full install...
