RyanbabZ71 Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 Well I took a pic of my old westin nerfs bars. I had to send them to westin. I am hoping they will do something for me since they are only 4 yrs old (have a 5 yr warranty). Also underneath the bars are rusting and some other smaller areas. This is a pretty large area
03GMCinBC Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 OUCH, what a bumber... What has Westin said? I have Westin Chrome Platinums, I guess I better keep an eye on them...
RyanbabZ71 Posted April 4, 2004 Author Posted April 4, 2004 The ones pictured are the reg ones not the cps or lifetime ones. Westin told me i need to take them back to the point of purchase. Only problem that is about 250 miles away (I bought my truck out of town) and I had them installed before I picked the truck up from the dealer along with a bedliner. Fianlly westin said send pictures and my info. Thats where I am at. I did recently buy the tubular westin bars (black aluminum). I havent put them on. Probably this summer.
Big Bert Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Mine are doing the same thing. Please keep us posted on what they do. Good Luck
silveradodude Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 I had the same problem and Westin told me to fax a reciept and e-mail the pic. They stood behind there product and I was very happy.
RyanbabZ71 Posted April 6, 2004 Author Posted April 6, 2004 Westin told me to fax a reciept problem is i dont have a receipt other than the worksheet on the truck price. There is a MISC. FEE spot where the bedliner and nerf bars were added.
Shaners Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 Westin replaced my "ovals"last spring, and I'm working with them again this spring to do the same... It seems they had some early production problems with the chrome plating not adhering well to the aluminum.
durango7_99 Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Guys, I have Westin Wheel to wheel steps bars that are chrome plated stainless that started to rust and chrome plating is peeling. Westin has told me to go back to the point of purchase for replacement. So I would have to pay shipping back for the old ones and shipping back to me for the new ones. Who did you talk to at Westin that was able to help with shipping a new set to you?
RyanbabZ71 Posted June 25, 2004 Author Posted June 25, 2004 I dealt directly with westin because where I bought mine was from a rhino linings dealer 3 hrs away from where I live. That would have equalled 4 trips there and back.
Shaners Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 I dealt with Westin also... They are slow to respond with their emails, but they have handled my claims well. Right now I'm waiting for a new set of Oval tubes, but my last response from Westin was that they have put a hold on all of the Chrome Plated Oval Tubes for now... No DUH!!!! I am looking for my third set!!! I was offered anything from their line if I wanted, but I really love the Oval Steps, so I'm going to wait it out... (Plus they offered all new brackets/hardware) I figured a lifetime warranty is going to go a long way!!!
Scott02Z71 Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 Welcome to the nightmare that I had with BOTH my trucks bars and my Dads Sub. Westin did NOTHING for me, mine were 4.5 years old. I had a reciept for one set, but not the other. They told me to take it back to the dealer. That didnt work. Ended up getting Smitty Builts and have never been happier
AZ-Z71 Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 Taking back to the dealer would be pretty hard if you bought them on line.
durango7_99 Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Well guys Westin will be replacing my side bars directly. I had to go back to them a couple of times to get them to agree to replace them directly. Orginally they asked me to ship them back to the point of purchase (over 1000 miles away) and I would have to get them replaced through the point of purchase costing me shipping both ways. I am happy now if they ship them as planned. I hope the new stainless chrome plated bars will not rust and flake chrome again. Thanks for the replies.
