Ran 14.0 with the Suburban

So close to the 13s but they ended up being so far away. I went up to New England Dragway for some opening day racing. The weather was good and the place was packed. I took 4 runs before calling it a night. Ran back to back 14.08s and then a 14.20 and 14.22. Both of those runs bumped the rev limiter going into 3rd. I was going to take a 5th pass but that would have been an hour of waiting and then another 2 hours home so I left happy with the 14.0 @ 96.59 MPH. I launched the truck in Auto 4WD. That produced 60' times of 2.0 on each run (best was 2.00). Not to bad for 6800lbs.

 

I also ran into "Mervz" (site admin) up there. It was nice to finally meet you!

I was up there as well and let me tell you thats one quick burban. watching him launch that thing was prety impressive. to get 6800lbs moveing like that is not easy.

 

p.s. Tom I might be stoping by your shop either friday or monday to get some prices on a heads/ cam sway on my s-10.

The truck will have one more chance to make a 13 second pass. I'll probably head back to the track on Friday or next Wednesday. After that it will be retired as a race truck.

why don't you drop some weight from that beast. probly only take about 50 lbs to hit 13's. I will probably be there tomorrow, hopefully we can line up

I ended up running with close to a 1/2 tank last time so I'm going to make sure it's around a 1/4 tomorrow. There was also a 20lb battery charger sitting in the back. That won't be there this time so the total weight savings will be about 70lbs. That and skipping lunch just might get me there

1/4 of a tank whats that about 30 gallons on that beast? I will be there slicks on and a full tank of juice. we should line up it would be a close race

Just noticed that I never updated this post. I went back a week later and ran a best of 13.93. I'm trying to keep the truck retired from track duty but the new 8.1 aluminum heads and/or cam are very tempting. Both of them with the blower would easily make this a mid 13 second ride!

 

I.... must..... resist.....new....mods!!!!
