Safe to drive w/o front driveshaft on bravada?

Hi there, just found this board after a search, maybe you can help me out.

I can't afford to get a new one yet (cheapest is 300 remanufactured) so I was wondering if it will cause any damage to the transfer case w/o the front shaft since its awd?

Also do all bravada's 96-01 use the exact same size front driveshaft?

BTW this is a 96 bravada

Thanks

Having the front drive shaft out can and probably will cause some damage to the transfer case.

THe t-case is always engaged in the Bravada AWD, and without support or tension on that front output shaft there is a good chance of chain slap (lack of tension on the chain). This can damage bearings, chain guides, the case, and the two mainshafts front and rear.

It can be driven very conservatively for short distances, but ceratainly not an everyday driver.

As far as the same parts from '96-'01, I would have to say that they are the same, as the design of the drivetrain has not changed during that period.

Hope this helps.
