SnakeEyeSS Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 I got a job interview at Office Depot. Okay, I was wanting this. But as some of you may remember, I took that postal test a few months ago. I got an 84.5. Well, three years ago my brother took the test and got a 94. It took him a year and a half to get a job. so I wasn't expecting a interview letter this early. They select you by score. Even if they like me it dosen't really matter, they will call out about 10 times more people than they are hiring for interviews, and of those who show up and meet the qualifications, they slect by score. so, just 10 qualified people with a 84.6 or higher and I'm out. But heres the problem. The interview will be right around the time of the USGP race. also, if I get the Office depot, I will need off for the race(that won't be a good first imperssion, but one of the managers is the spouse of my current manager, who told the store they need to make room for me if they don't have room). So let's say I get the office depot job, and I can make the PO interview. Then I get the job, I'd have to walk out on a job I had for two weeks. Also, if I get the Post Office job and everything works out, there is another problem. College is out of the question. At the office's I'm being interviewed for, it says "appox 30 hrs/week" But people who know say expect around 40-70 hours a week, because it's insanely busy. See all the bad seneraio's(sp)? Although after a few years of that while staying at home, I'd have enough for college, debt free, and maybe even a nice, couple of years old E46 2002ish M3, to boot.
RyanbabZ71 Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 Im bitter at office depot. I lost my internship (paid) back in early 02. I didnt have a job and had a yr left of college. I applied at office depot. Had an interview went well. They were going to pay like $7.50 an hr. I was making double that at my internship. They didnt hire me because I was "over qualified" I needed a job I needed $$$ i didnt care how much it was. I was without a job for 2 months. Worked out good because I could concentrate on school
SnakeEyeSS Posted June 2, 2004 Author Posted June 2, 2004 yeah they told me they had alredy hired a ton of people, and didn't need anyone else. then they found out who I worked for(one of the manager's spouse), and he even went there to tell them I was an awesome worker. I'd hate to get hired then have to leave. But still, My chances may not be great at the ol' PO, so I need to take this, and hope I get it! The OD interview is tomorrow, at 3.
