Today is the closet I have been in 4 yrs to getting a new truck. I have about 1500 in gm earnings and I got an offer to add 4K to that for a new silverado. hmmm 5500 off plus gm supplier plan. Tomorrow I migh start browsing.

What are you guys paying for an 04 ext cab 1500 Z71 LS model?

Although I can't believe what I am reading, I hear ya. The only thing I would say is: are you close to having this one paid off? Is it already paid off? If you are close, I would advise to stick with it and live payment free for a while. I have a 2002 and have been tempted to trade it in on a new 1/2 ton crew cab, but then I would just start over on the payments.

Last month I was seriously considering trading my HD for a 1500. I found the dealers in my area fighting over who was going to get my business. Even with my truck having the 8.1 they couldn't wait to get their hands on her. I thought the high gas prices would have been an issue with trade in value.

Anyways,I was looking at a nicely equipped 2004 x-cab, 1500, with the LS package, 5.3,and 4x4. In the end I had three different dealers offering to sell me the truck I wanted at just over $23. The MSRP on the trucks averaged $33-34K. After I had decided to keep my HD I was surprised to get a call from Everett Chevrolet, they wanted to sell me a truck so badly they even offered to come down another $1000. They made it very hard to keep my 2001,but in the end the thought of having her paid off was a bigger bonus than a new truck.

My truck has been paid off since it was brand new. Thats what makes it hard. I figure I can sell this one and get a new one and only pay a little bit. I would like a CC but those prices are crazy and this deal isnt good for the 1500 CC (however they do show 2 pics of them in the brochure go figure)

Well with my gm points, 4K added on, and 2500 cash back from chevy the total discount would be $7826.14. It looks like it cannot be combined with any offers so the 2500 would be knocked off. Its not looking like such a good deal after all

I got all hyped up and I cannot use the chevy 2500 cash back or my supplier plan. Whoop dee do i should have known if it sounds to good to be true its to good to be true

Sticker price on mine was like $36,200.

Got it for like $100 over invoice which was $31700 then there was $4000 in rebates.

Lots of good deals out there. Couldn't pass it up.

Chevys are usually about $500-1000 cheaper, but I hate the Chevy grille so I went with the GMC.

I bought an early '04 Z71 Sierra ext/sb, most options except leather & auto temp control stickered at 35,625; since then GM reorganized some of the options into the LD power pkg which would have brought the sticker down to 34,625. I got it at 29,600 and then took a $2500 rebate off, and then took off the trade of my loaded in excellent shape '96 Z71. I don't think I did too bad.

Recall I went through the same thing a few months ago when my parents' neighbors were looking. I thought I may be able to make something happen only to find that the rebates/incentives weren't quite as good as I had been nicely mislead.

You will also want to ensure that you can use your GM Card Points with the GM Supplier discount. When buying our Malibu, we were not able to combine the point with the GMS discount. I may have been fooled, but this is what I was told. Just an FYI.

I think you were fooled because I used mine on my current truck and my mom used hers on her blazer.

as of august 1, 2003, you can NOT use the gm card with any gm employee discounts. have to change to the gm "Friends and family card" - which only has 1% earnings. if you switch to it, your current earnings are reduced from 5% to 1%. i almost bought a new truck last year right before this change took place, but couldnt pull the trigger.

it seems to me that everytime the rebates gete better, my trucks trade in value reduces by a similar amount. almost have to sell it privatly to make it work...

I'm getting ready to sell the Z-71 and buy another one. It's been paid off for a couple years now and has 108,000 on the clock, so I figure it's time. I was at the dealer the other day and was offered virtually an exact replacement (5.3, regular cab, long bed, Z-71) for 22Kish. Stickers for around $32K.

However, what I really have my eye on, but can't justify the additional cost, is the Duramax version of the same truck that's also at the dealership. Regualr cab, long bed, SLE trim, 5 speed Allison, dark green metallic, What I'd do to have that in the garage. Stickers for $37K but they don't take much off those, unfortunately. Considering what we just paid for the Yukon, I think my wife would kill me.

So, looks like another Z-71 is on the way.
