A Shake your head story..

Well I ll tell ya I bought myself my first decent pair of sunglasses and they happened to be Oakley and cost me about 300 CDN after all said and done... Now I know there is a sucker born every minute but I loved them when I bought them and no one would have told me any different.. Now when I bought them they had a lifetime warranty on the frames which I thought was cool since your payin a crapload, at least they will stick up for there product.

Well 3 years or so went by and I didnt break em, they scratched up a bit but no complaints until one day I ended up sitting on them and all I heard was SNAP! and I just closed my eyes and said DOH!!!!

So I got the number from oakley from where i bought the glasses from and just never had the time to call them so I endedup leaving the frames on my nightstand and it stayed like that for a good year. So I was out with a couple of buddies at a driving range I didnt get a chance to go to since it opened and they had these cheap glasses that looked identical to the oakleys that I had at home in pieces for a WHOOPPIN' five bucks, so I bought them and loved it.

I was home today doin some well needed cleanin and decided to see if the lenses off my 300 pair of sunlgasses fit my 5.00 pair that i purchased last month and low and behold they did!!!!! The lense fits just like it was made to go in there, the nose piece that came off the cheap ones fit as well.

Its not the fact that I paid a fraction of the cost to get the same style glasses that bugs me, its the fact that it would cost me 30 bucks to have it shipped to oakley canada and then pay what ever they want so they can give me back probably the same frames I bought from this driving range and crank up the cost!

So I was smart this time and I went back to the place that I bought these glasses for and bought a few extra pairs for backup to my frames, ah well.... Funny story to tell as a whole I guess

Thats funny that a $5 pair has the same frame as the oakleys. I have a pair of oakleys I hardly even wear cause I don't want to mess them up. Kinda defeats the purpose huh?

Ya thats why I ended up buyin these... I wanted a cheap pair that kinda resembled them cause I like the style (typical oakley style) and these were the first ones that I found that I liked...

I found my lenses collecting a bit of dust in my room so as I was cleaning them I thought... HMMMMMM... would they fit these frames??? I m almost considering taking a pic of the before and after and sending them to oakley and putting a HA HA HA beside it.

Ah well, just saves me the headache of sending them 30 bucks plus my frames/lenses so they can give me a new frame when they feel like it.

I used to buy B&L sunglasses and would always do something to them within a couple years. Now I buy cheap sunglasses and I can't get rid of them.

I have a pair of oakley's that I paid $300 for as well, but in US currency. I dont remember the model but they fit GREAT. Well...on top of that I wanted my prescription lens in these peticular frames. They had to be custom made... Welp, after the mirror tint, polarized, scratch resistant, and all the bells & whistles....the LENS ended up costing nearly $250.

Needless to say I guard the glasses with my life.

NOTHING fits like an oakley....I'm convinced. I had a set of raybans and they fit like :banghead:

I had a pair of Straight Jackets and a pair of Full Metal Jackets, bought them in 1995 or so. Well, I went through 12 pairs of the FMJ's and 3 pairs of the SJ's. Each time they would break on the temple pieces, right before the little rubber ear thingys. Each time I sent them to Oakley, they would send me a new pair, no questions asked, minus shipping of course, but no biggie. Then, I wanted to get another pair, and I was told that they did not make the same style anymore, and they would give me 40 bucks each for a newer style of the same model. Instead, I got a pair of the Romeo's, all titanium glasses. about $285 USD I think, plus shipping. Had them for about 3 years not, and no problems whatsoever. They are adjustable frames, which make them feel like I'm not even wearing any glasses. But they do weigh more than most glasses I've eveer owned. :banghead::):D

I've got a pair of mirrored looking smith and wesson safety glasses in the truck that work well for driving. I've ordered a number of pairs of various makes from this industrial safety catalog I used to get...$5-7 each

I have a pair of Oakley M Frames and another pair that I don't know the style of. Together they cost about $270, which looking back is way too high. I really like my sunglasses, but I'll just get a cheap pair next time.

There is some truth to the saying "you get what you pay for" in the case of sunglasses. Sure some of the frames for Oakley, particularly the plastic ones, are kinda not what you'd expect for the price you pay. But the optics of the lenses are probably the best there is out there. I've had maybe 8 different Oakleys over the past decade. I just bought the Why 8.1 which is a rimless design and is very very lightweight. The one I got before those, which I still have, are the Square Wire 2.0 Spring Hinge with polarized lenses. Dayum! Comfy, and the polarized lenses are just the best for driving. If you've never wore a pair of polarized shades before...you should all give it a try.

 Nothin out there beats a maui Jims

I got a pair with the flexible sport frames and I love them,I agree polorized all the way

I like the Maui Jim's that I have. I had to deal with glasses, but since the A.F. paid for the PRK surgery I was able to buy a good pair of sunglasses. I must have tried on at least 20 pairs of different brands, if they didn't fit right they let in to much light around the frames. Poloraized is well worth the cost. Makes things so much clearer, at least that is the way it seems.

Right on with the polarized glasses. I picked up two pairs from Mel Cottons in San Jose for $15 each. They are the more stylish version of the fishing glasses. :(

What I love about these glasses is how the reflection on the windshield from the dash "disappears" with these lenses. Proves that more dark is not necessarily better - polarized lenses remove glare, all kinds of reflections, and makes even the LA haze look blue! Gotta be careful, though, since they scratch easily. :puke:

For the cost of a set of Oakley's (as awesome as they are), you can keep a cheap pair of glasses in each car, house, boat and bike.
