New Yukon Question

Our Yukon has the traditional 4 buttons for the transfer case- Auto, 2WH, 4WH, and 4WL. On some of the new ones I see there's three- the top one has something to do with Stabilitrak, the middle is All Wheel Drive (I assume) and the bottom one's 4WL. Can someone expound on this system? What mode should be used when?

I think that is the Stabilitrak, which automatically uses the ABS and AWD systems to help stabilize the vehicle in extreme circumstances.

For example, if you are going down the highway, and need to swerve hard in an emergency, it will apply the brakes, or even power, to one or more wheels to help counteract the forces that would cause the vehicle to roll over.

Bottom button is 4-wheel Low

Middle button should be on all the time, Stabilitrak is engaged.

Top button is for when you want to disable traction control. ie, if you have to rock the truck to get out of the snow.

Stabilitrak sends power to all four wheels, all the time..... aka AWD.

caden442 is right, Stabilitrak is automatically engaged at each ignition start.

Use the top button to override the traction control. This make the driveline behave more like a RWD - can leave a tire scratch if you get on it :banghead: . You'll find that trying to pull this manuever with Stabilitrak on is much more difficult - as it should be. You'd want to leave it on during regular driving. :)
