What's up with the led light next to the volume on the Delco sound system. I have a new Rig and I can't figure out when this light is supposed to illuminate. The manual does'nt address this issue, what gives? ???

Your radio has an anti-theft security system in it. It is user programable where you put in your own security code. When this sytem is active, the LED will flash when the truck is shut off. It is on page 3-28 of the 2001 Silverado manual...

I am sure I will forget the code and then where will I be? I actually like the way the factory radio sounds in the Avalanche. It sounds way better than the factory radio in my 2000 Ext Cab Z71 did. Wonder why, whats different? The av seems to have a lower sound to it. Just curious.

The Av has the same speakers as my crewcab. There are 2 in each front door and the speakers that are in the rear doors are bigger than the ones in the ex-cab. My crewcab sounds much better than my excab did too...

hey, thanks for the tips. I agree with chevy4x4truck guy, I would love a red flashing light when my truck is off. I'm activating mine in the morning. :love:

Some of it has to do with acoustics too. Bigger cabs such as the crews and the avs have a lot of space for the base to resonate. I notice it alot when i go from my brothers regular cab with a good stereo to my dads explorer with the whole area. Lots more umph.

For those who have'nt activated there stereo security, do it. Having the added protection is just sitting idle and that flashing light is a sweet touch!!!

Simply make the code something you'll remember, you are allowed 4 numbers. All mine are set to the numbers of a radio frequency I like so I remember them.
