Its a pain to get to,but it also holds the brake light switch on. once you throw your back out trying to get your head and shoulders under there, you'l still have a hard time seeing it...but you should be able to slide it up (or down depending on the way it was installed) you should be able to rotate the brake like switch up slightly and remove it and then slide the rod off of the pedal :)

Actually a 95 has a different clip than you described.

You need a really thin flat screw driver and you have to pry the round part apart and over the stud it is mounted on. Super pain in the ass.

Yes this clip was like nothing I had seen before. Could only get a small 6" screwdriver in there and was very hard to see the clip. Also could use only one hand so it was hard to get leverage. Trick was to not get under the clip but spread the part that came off the clip parallel to the post. Thanks for replies. / J

I have found that removal of the front seat helps out alot. If you have a bench seat, forgo that, but if you have buckets in the truck, remove it. Yes its a little bit of extra work to do, but makes crawling under the dash a lot easier. I have screwed up my back too many times leaving the seat in.
