Just found out 10 min ago that today is my last day at work.  I got the boot. The new company which bought us is cutting costs and even though i make like nothing i got the ax.  My boss found out 10 min before i did.

Looks like i am going job hunting now

This really sucks

Sorry to hear that. I've been in the unemployment line pretty steady for the last 2 months. Lucky for me Illinois pays well. The Governor's budget cutting plan includes eliminating my wife's job, so if that goes thru I'm really going to have to get serious. What kind of work did you do?

It was an engineering internship.

Possibly though since i went through a temp service (since i was part time i ahd to work this way) i could get a job through them.  If not i could always try menards again

Sorry to hear about that ryan.  Try going on monster.com  I've been looking for a different job for the past few months and have gotten several good offers just by posting my resume.  Give it a shot.

Get a job at an auto parts store, then you can rake in the discount.

Sorry to hear about the job loss, Ryan.

I have been monitoring www.hotjobs.com.

They seem to have a more thorough listing locally, and also more listings by direct employers, rather than those temp agencies and headhunters.

With your engineering background and education, I'd think you could get a good one pretty quick.

Good luck

This job market has really gotten tough lately.  Up until just a few months ago I had a pretty good chance of getting a summer internship with one of a few farm equipment companies.  Things are looking really doubtful for that to happen now.  I'm in a better position than most as there is more than enough work at home for me to do, so a job isn't a problem.  I would just like to get my foot into a company now so chances of being hired after I graduate are improved.

I didnt see this coming at all.  Thats the bad thing.

I wish i knew about a month prior

Today starts the job hunt :D

No one wants to hire a college kid to work part time mostly on weekends.

It's alright Ryan, I'm sure you'll pull through.  This dang economy got me already too.  I had done a few interviews for a different drafting job that would've been about 4 dollars an hour more than I'm making now.  And I was the front runner for the job, but they decided that because of the economy that they weren't sure if they could hire another person.  I was so hoping to get that extra $$$, that would be my lift kit money right there.  But, not much I can do about it.  There aren't enough drafting positions available in my area.

Ryan, that sucks.  :D

If you're looking for weekend jobs, try a restaraunt, they're always busy on weekends. It'll keep the cashflow coming in till you find a nother job...

Sorry to hear that Ryan.  I hope you find something you want soon.

I know the military isn't for everyone, but one great thing is job security.  I know I'll be getting a paycheck every two weeks no matter how many hours I work (or don't work  :D ).  It may not be a lot, but I know I'll be getting one.  :D

Bummer...

Bassdog has a good idea.  A waiter in a nice restaraunt can easily bring home $100 plus/night in tips...

Keep your head up high!!!
