Revos....opinions wanted and needed

I am nearing the time for the 1st tire replacement and am anxious to get a little more aggressive tire next time. After reading on this forum and at tirerack.com I hear lots of wonderful things about the Bridgestone Dueller AT REVOS. I have no doubt they are a great performing tire, but I'm a little worried about wear. All of my experiences with Bridgestone in the past has been that they were a good tire, but didn't wear as well as other brands. (personal observation) Granted most of these Bridgestones were OEM tires and usually, not always, they(all brands) are junk. To back it up I was speaking to a local dealer who sells all major brands (Goodyear, BF Goodrich, Michelin, Uniroyal, Bridgestone, Cooper etc) and he said he had put a set of REVOS on his truck (98 Silverado) and had great things to say about their performance, BUT said they seemed to wear awfully fast. (He likes to sell Michelins though and may have been wanting to pump me for the extra $$ for the Michelins)

Anyway, can someone give me an idea of real world mileage expectations on these tires? Also, I live in the mountains of NC where there are lots of crooked 2 lane roads that loves to eat tires.

Thanks

I have about 10k miles on my set of Revo's. I have noticed that the rear wore a little quicker than i would like, but i know why they are missing some tread :chevy: . They absolutly work awsome in the rain. I have tried many time at speeds over 70 mph to get them to hydroplane and they will not. What ever I try they just wont do it.. On the other hand I am not happy with there snow performance. I think possibly that my setup is to blame. I have a crew cab long bed, with 265's mounted on the stock wheel. The rear end of my trucks slide all over the place as if i had an open dif 2wd. If i could do it again i would go back to the stock 245 size. I also think the bad weight ratio to front to rear doesn't help. This winter I will be try adding half ton of weight in the bed to see if that helps.

I have no personal experience with the Revo but 2 of my friends had them. They both said they were not that happy with snow traction and wear was nothing to brag about. One of them said he will be sticking with the BFG AT's and the other is undecided except he knows it won't be Bridgestone, but like I said I myself have not tried them.

nearing 33k on mine and plenty of life left.

My Bridgestone Revo Duelers have about 25k on them. Love 'em. Minimal hydroplaning--if any. Great on beach sand. Snow is illegal down here, so can't say anything about that.

These things still look new.

I've got a little over 10,000 on mine and love them. I had pro comp A/t's prior and they were junk, although they did last a long time. So far the tread wear seems pretty good with the REVO's. I would expect somewhere around 40,000 miles out of them. I rotate mine every 6,000 miles so the wear is very uniform between the front and back. They are great in rain like others have stated and are quiet. They do allright off road...just like any other A/T. If they came in a 35" tire I would buy them again.

Dead on with my comments. I actually have to try to make the tires fail.

I THINK I have them on my truck, I say think because no where on it does it say "Revo" but in a picture of a previous topic the tread was the same. What is on the tire is "Bridgestone Dueler A/T or H/T" it just left me as I type. (the more aggressive of the two) Anyways I am very stisfied with mud, rain, snow, and dry performance, tread life so so. Price will be my determining factor when time to replace and I don't know what they cost.

And another view, with sand on the tread showing off the pattern---look at my signature.

I have 18k on mine and the tire people thought they were new when I went in for tire rotation. At the current wear rate (and I worked the numbers), these tires will last about 52k miles. --plenty of miles for me. LOTS of grip also -- more than my former Dueler A/T's.

and i 100% agree, rain doesn't stop these beasts. I have hit some nasty storms in TN and NC in the past few weeks and while everyone else is slowing down I'm trucking on.

On second note.. i have mine rotated & balanced every 5000 miles and a wheel alignment done every 8-10k miles..... does anyone else have that done that is having wear probs?

Okay so I DON'T have Revo's but I do have Dueler A/T's What kind of pricing are the Revo's (Roughly) compared to other alternatives? High, Low, Average?

Thanks...

Hmm... .these are high-price tires from what i hear. I purchased mine from a warehouse in the northeast for $130 each, but I think they are closer to $160 each if you purchase them from a tire place (sears, just tires, local tire shop)..

I dont like the look of the prissy michelins on a truck-- even the a/t michelins look like a bfg long trail write-off.

just my .02

Ummm, there's more to this stuff than looks. The following are some links from TireRack for "Highway All-Season" Truck Tires, "Off-Road All-Terrain", and "Off-Road Maximum-Traction".

These should help folks in the quest for tires matched up to their driving needs.
