heres my question i have 04cc d/a 2500hd 4x4.

approx 2700 miles driving home yesterday had

about 7075 miles left in tank.per the dic about

75mph look behind me and had a very big cloud

of white smoke coming out of tailpipe.i slowed down

think i hurt something then i seen no smoke.brang it

back up to 75 watched tailpipe smoking black badly.

then every once and awile feel a dead spot in engine

or hic up then the white smoke comes out.went to fuel

station and filled up again drove home same speeds

never smoked at all.now is it possible i got bad gas already

and will it eventualy dilute back out if a keep refueling.

no water in gas lite came on just dont want to hurt the

beast any help cleaners etc.not sure what to do thanks

First make sure you put diesel fuel in it and not gas. Then I would bring it right back to the dealer since you still have warranty. Obviously you have a computer problem, being it said that you have 7075 miles left in the tank.

Definetly sounds like you got crappy fuel.

I would absolutely bring it back to the dealer. If they happen to refuse do it under warrantee (because bad fuel is not a factory or part fault) and you want to do it yourself. I would just change the fuel filter, and dilute out the bad fuel by refilling the tank a few times. I'd also floor the thing a few times to clear any remaining crap out of the injectors. Had a similar problem with my Corvette earlier this year. Also, whoever at General Motors who put that diesel fuel filter where it is needs to be beaten.

Before anyone starts warning of a "faulty injector" - It's most likely some bad diesel. I've blown white smoke on several occasions and it's been associated with a few marginal tanks of diesel I purchased from a local guy here in town. I would certainly have it looked at, though.

It actually sounds like you had a little water.

Banshee, DO NOT TRUST THE D.I.C you were running out of fuel (not gas) I have heard people running out of fuel and the d.i.c still said 100 some miles left till empty I dont let mine durmax run below 1/4 tank on the gage.

the fuel guage doesnt work at all on any gm's, i never let mine go below 1/4 because the fuel pump will over heat, but on the issue of the smoke, it also might be water in the fuel... if im not mistaken i thought water meant white smoke, gas meant black smoke (or way too much diesel), and blue meant oil... anyways that shouldnt be happening to a new truck so have the dealer fix it, dont let them sell you any b.s. :flag::thumbs:

Take her to the dealer for sure and take advantage of the Warranty.

Machine, nice machines! Are you carrying a lot of paper, or investing?

Have a great one!
