bumper stops, suspension stops, jounce bumper

I was reading in the posts here about how the trucks have different bumper stop gaps or no gaps as the case may be.  I'd like to get to the bottom of this.  Can everyone who has noticed this please post their truck (4x4 offroad package or not, suburban, tahoe, pickup 1500...etc.)  I have a Tahoe and it doesn't have any clearance on the jounce bumper.  It also doesn't have the offroad package, but yet it is a 4x4.  I think the engineers wanted the stiffer ride for a more comfortable road ride.  Perhaps the 4x4 offroaders can shed light on this for me.  Do you have a gap?  I'm going to go past the dealership after work today to compare.  :)

Thanks

00 Z71

I have a nice sized gap.  I can fit my hand in there (flat down)

After work today, I stopped by a dealership.  Out of 30 or so pickups, tahoes, suburbans, only 3 had any gap.  A tahoe had a half inch gap, a 2 wheel drive pickup had maybe an eighth of an inch, and a z71 pickup had a small gap too.  I don't know what to make of it.

No gap - 2001 Z71.  I looked at a couple of trucks on the lot and they did not have a gap either.  The dealer told me that no gap was the way they were designed, but I think he was blowing smoke.

2001 1500 Burb. No gap. Every 1500 I have looked at in random places has no gap. GM dealers have not had an explanation. GM Customer service has not explained yet.

Thanks,

Scott

One thing about the bumpstops being touching, is that they are not a hard stop.  They should have alittle give to them.  One other point, is that the bumpstop is located very close to the pivot point of the lower control arm.  It would take several inches of wheel travel to get even 1/2" of travel that close to the pivot points.

I thought the bump stop question might be causing a bouncing problem that I am having in the front end.  But since it looke like the bump stops might be correct - maybe I have a bad shock.  I bounce the truck on the drivers side up and down and it takes 3-4 full motions to come to a stop, then on the left side and it takes 2-3 full motions to stop.  Can someone tell me how their trucks do on a bounce test.

Mine had no gap until I turned up the torsion bars (4 turns). Now I have a pretty good gap. I had to turn up the bars to because of my new tires. The truck looks much better now that it is almost level and has bigger tires.

Mine was the same as Stepside's, no gap until I turned the torsion bars (5 turns) good gap now. The ride is a little stiffer, but barely noticeable.
