Anyone put on a bodylift themselves?

I haven't done it myself yet, but I may in the future.  I can send you the instructions for the Performance Accesories 3 inch body lift that someone scanned for my and e-mailed to me, if you want.  It's 7 .jpg files totaling 832 KB.  Doesn't seem like it will be too hard.

Just let me know if you want them.

The show Crank and Chrome, on TNN, did a show about installing that body lift on a new body style Silverado.  Of course they used a lift to raise the body and bed, but said you could do the same with a jack and some blocks of wood.

Here's their website.

Go to the previous shows section, then you'll see "4X4 body Lift Kit"

Good luck.

One of the guys at FSC just did and he said that he did it by himself in 10 hours w/ just hand tools.  I'm sure w/ air tools and help you could do it in 7 or 8

I doubt that a DIY'er could do it in 7-8 hours.  Air tools will only help a little, most of the bolts are tucked up behind the front and rear bumpers, you'll never fit and air gun or rachet in there.

I helped, 8100HD do his and it will take anyone about 10-12 hrs to do it in their garage themselves.  It is not very difficult, and the results are well worth the time.

I don't think the guy would lie, if he says he did it in 8 hours I believe him!

:notice: No one said they did it in 8 hrs.  Please read and understand what is being said before you reply.  I am just speaking from MY personal experiences, not on pure speculation..

I did mine with my brother-in-law in 6 hours using an impact wrench for the cab/bed bolts.  We screwed around a bit, took time off for lunch, and in general approached the task as a leisure activity and not as a time sensitive job.  Had we spent a little more time in preparation, remained tightly focused, and stayed out of each other's way, we could have shaved at least an hour and a half off of the project.  With practice, it would probably go even faster.

We didn't relocate the bumpers (chose to keep my bumpers within legal spec from pavement and to keep the protection that they offer when attached to the frame over the cosmeticly correct procedure of raising them).

As most of the nuts and bolts in the kit are for the bumper re-location, I gather that it's a rather time consuming part of the job.

It was a lot easier having someone to help, but I think I could have done it alone.  It certainly would have taken a lot longer.

With two reasonably handy people who have read and understand the installation instructions, I don't see why a body lift couldn't be installed in 8-10 hours.

Sorry about that, just misread what was posted!  I just did mine in 8 hours with a friend helping, relativly simple!
