Sometimes when I start my truck (94 Z71) it idles like it's on 3 cylinders then sometimes finally smooths out. Other times I turn it off then restart and its smoother.

Anyone?

not deisel, all parts ok...

surely there's an ol 350 throttle body pro out there somewhere?

Has anyone ever put a vortech in an older truck? I'm sure leaning that way, just don't seem to be able to find all the stuff. Anyone got any parts? harness, brain, manifold??? preferably a 97. I've heard its the easiest swap..

If all of the tune up parts are good (plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc.), I'd start with cleaning the throttle body and checking the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. Couldn't hurt to check the fuel pressure regulator for leakage also...not sure where it is on a 94 though.

thanks for the info ,I'll check it!

got another question...

I recently bought a boat, and when I halled it to the coast, my truck went into senior moment sendrome! You would have thought I was pulling a house!

The motor ran hot, the tranny stayed in 3'rd, and going up a steep incline was frankly embarassing!

What tha #@***#@? this is a 5.7 powerhouse we're talking about here, at least it used to be. What could cause such a loss of pulling power?

Maybe it was pinging and the PCM was pulling some timing to compensate, that would be my first guess.
