U-Haul Question

Does anyone know if I can fit a queen size mattress & boxspring in a 5x8 U-Haul box trailer? I gotta rent a trailer and need to know if it's big enough.

Thanks.

I don't see why not. As long as you protect the mattress, you can put it in the trailer at an angle and still have room (some, but not much) for the boxspring and frame.

Of course, I could be wrong.

I was thinking I could put the box spring diagonally in the trailer and the mattress in the Yukon with the seats down. Might work. I think I should be ok.

Sorry, I don't have the answer to your question, but what happened to the Z-71?

That's ok, I learned the roof height of the trailer is 5'4" and the mattress is 5', so as long as I put it through the door diagonally it will stand back up straight once it's in.

As for the Z-71, I sold it last week. I'm back in grad school for the next 1.5 years (MBA- started last January) and I have a 130 mile commute twice a week. I was commuting in the good weather in my old Nissan (30 mpg) and taking the truck when it was snowing, but the Nissan was wrecked in June by a man running a red light. I needed something to commute with, the truck got 16ish mpg, had 112,000 miles on it, so I decided to get the WRX and sell the truck. The WRX goes like hell and is good in the snow, not to mention it's been getting 26 mpg. After school is over I'll pick up another truck again. I really miss having a truck. We still have the Yukon, though. :tear:

Congrats on the WRX.  I've heard they fly.  Good luck with the graduate school.

Thanks, it's been a great car so far. I bought it on July 10th and have 8,500 miles on it already. I'm very surprised at how quick it is- Car & Driver's test car did 0-60 in 5.4 seconds and mine feels every bit as fast. I have a K&N filter (mostly for the convenience of never having to change filters again, not for the alleged power increase) and it's been converted to synthetic engine and transmission oil/fluid. I can't wait to see how it goes in the snow.

please keep us updated with the WRX, and its maintaince stuff. At least I'm interested. those are pretty cool cars. from what I've read, they haev city-driving toruqe unlike the Evo which is supposed to be gutless down low.

and I hope I don't have to remind you guys that if that WRX has performance oriented tires, it'd do worse than a 69 camaro WITH snow tires in the snow

AWD is pointless if the tires have no traction to begin with!!!

Made the round trip (400 miles) without a problem- everything fit fine in the 5x8 trailer. Of course, the Yukon hauled it as if it wasn't even there.

As for the WRX, so far it has been running like a champ. I did the first oil change at 1,000, then again at 4,000, then changed over to synthetic at 7,000 in the engine and trans. As the engine has broken-in it's definitely picked up some speed. Still haven't run it past 7,000 rpm yet, redline is 7,500. Generally shift below 6,000.

It came from the factory with Bridgestone Potenza RE-92 M&S tires, although they seem to be generally regarded as crapola from what I read. I haven't been impressed so far. I plan to replace them with Pirelli Nero M&S when they wear out.
