Does anyone have any experience in getting the factory installed Bilstein shocks that come part of the z71 package replaced under warranty???? Bilstein claims that their shocks are warrantied for lifetime. After checking their website, they insturcted me to contact the original vehicle manufacturer so I contacted my buddy that works at the Chevy parts counter and he says he's never seen anythig like that happen (been there 8 years).

This is for a 96 Tahoe 2 Door with Z71 package

The dealer should replace your factory installed shocks right there if they are covered under warranty.

They may sublet the work out, but they should still handle it.

I have been down that road, and used to work at a dealer ship also. they are covered under the GM 3-36 warranty. you would have to try and go thru Bilstein and they will tell you to go to the dealer. it is a big run around. I have also run into it with Ranco they are put on some fords from the factory. Both ford and Gm's stance is that the moment they get put on one of their trucks at the factory they become a OEM part and are covered by there base warranty only!!!! no if and or butts. nice try.
