Steering wheel POP!?!

Hi

I have a 2003 Tahoe 5.3L 4x4, when you are driving down the road you can feel and hear a pop in the steering wheel. The last few days it is getting more noticeable. It almost sounds like a broken shock mount, you can even make the pop noise when you are sitting still and turn the steering wheel. Any ideas?!?!

You probably still have your warranty, right? Go to the dealer and more than likely they will order you a new intermediate steering shaft. There is a back-order on these. The dealer will also probably check components under the hood associated with your steering. All under warranty.

I have the same truck with the same problem. It is the intermediate steering shaft. Apparently it doesn't hold lube very well and the splines can break. I am waiting for the part to come in to have mine fixed.

most likely the steering shaft covered by the service bulletin. Dealer will fix for free.
