bscottb Posted December 12, 2001 Posted December 12, 2001 My truck was running fine when I parked it a few hours ago. When I got back in it I heard a whine/groan. I thought it was from the transmission. I opened the door and listened as I stopped and started and I could tell it was coming from the rear. It also has a faint clicking sound. I tried spinning the tires in dirt to make it completely lock up. Then I put the right side in the dirt and the left on pavement and spun the tires. It locks up fine but I think it is unlocking partially. I don't think it is completely locked. I guess I'm going to the dealer tomorrow. Has this happened to anyone else?
chevy4x4trucks Posted December 12, 2001 Author Posted December 12, 2001 no problems to speak of w/ my limited slip, did you try backing it up and going forward a few times to see if that unlocked it.
bscottb Posted December 12, 2001 Posted December 12, 2001 Yeh. i tried that to. it still wouldn't unlock
chevy4x4trucks Posted December 12, 2001 Author Posted December 12, 2001 Hmmm, that sounds messed up. The only complaint I've had about my limited slip is when I'm making a turn and give it some gas halfway around the turn and hearing that thud it makes when it's locked up. Definetly sounds like a take it to the dealer problem.
joe-doggs Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Yeh. i tried that to. it still wouldn't unlock <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The EATON G80 - aka "Gov-Lok" is a d**n clever piece, however they grenade in severe applications - the worst case is hitting a patch of ice on the freeway - this really makes them go - they loose teeth on the govenor / ratchet - watch out for this on eBay - where it says "As-IS". TOss the d**n thing & just buy a tractech / Detroit TruTrac - IE the gear-style posi units - they are bullet proof ..
