Help on Leather Seat Conversion

Wonder if any can help me on this one.

I have an 03 2500HD EXT Cab 4WD LS (cloth). Have the chance to put factory leather seats in but need to know if the power seat controls and the heat controls on the side panels can be installed with the current harness.

What should I grab when taking out the leather seats from the LT to install in the LS? In short......Leather for the work truck, but woman gets cold ass on leather and I don't want to hear her bitch any more than she already does

You'll need the door panels because the heater switches are mounted in them along with the memory switch.

I'm not sure if the wiring harness is already there or not in your truck. I don't know if you'll have to have the BCM reflashed.

If you can make it work, you'll love the heated seats and the fact that the leather is so easy to maintain...

I'm sorry to say that there is no wiring in the harness for the seat upgrade. We did the exact same install for a customer, and went so far as to add the wiring to the harness.

To do that the customer had to purchase a complete cab wiring harness. We just took out the parts we needed. I think just about 10 - 12 hours billable work went into that little fiasco!!

Here's a question I have on this.... If all one wants is the ability for the seats to move (up/down/back/forth, etc., via power controls on the seat's base), can providing 12 volts to the seats' wiring allow these functions? Or are the seats' power feeds so convoluted and so connected to the computer that they wouldn't function even with a well-crafted home-brew wiring scheme?

Thanks guys for all the info. I too had wondered the same about the function of the seats if you added power to them. The heat is definitely the major thing needed or I can write off the possibility of taking the truck anywhere with the woman.

If I could get the cab harness as well, that 10-12 hours would be the whole dash and everything woudln't it

Yeah, the cab wiring harness is all "1" piece, but with some timeconsuming cutting, schematics deciphering, and patience you can seperate just the sections that you need. But to do it right the dashboard comes out to run the wirng in it's proper location.

It is quite the little project.

I had heat installed in my cloth sets and the installed a switch on the side of the seat. Can you install a toggle switch that will turn them on without going all the way to the door panel/

I have the power leather seats but no heat or memoery setting, My ? is do the seats have the heating pads in them and they are just not wired up,? Is it possible to get the wiring and switches and make the heated option come to life. The drivers seat has a small black control box mounted underneath it with tons of wires going to the seat itself and a large plug going into it with only three wires there now but it has a 24 pin plug (looks like a 24 pin, but i didn't count them). I have tracked down the part numbers for the needed switches and wiring harness, but I need to know for sure if the seats have the heating pads in them before I go to the trouble of buying the stuff needed or ripping it out of a boneyard truck. I'm not really conserned with the memory settings but from what I gathered so far is that the heat and memory come together in the package.
