Tire Questions?

Looking to replace the factory tires on the 2004 chevy silverado 4X4, looking for which tires do you recommened and the prices you have paid. Looking stay with a all-terrain tire. Thanks

Goodyears seem to be a popular chioce. There is a poll elsewhere on the forum asking about tires.

I got rid of my factory Goodyears because they were crap on wet roads.

 

Went with the Michelin M/S. Not cheap but they go forever and look great for street driving and light off road.

Depends on the type of duty you need them for. On-road or off-road. Usually the only time I go off-road is when I'm not paying attention

Same here! I've alway like the looks of the Goodyear Radial GT and ran several sets but hated the treadwear and the whop, whop, whop noise they produced. I'm on my fourth set of Michelins and love them. The LTX/MS is my personal favorite. They are not that much more and I usually get about 25-30% greater tread wear out of them. Feels like you riding on glass.

Y'all might also check out the search engine. Lots of messages and discussions from the past about this very subject. TireRack has always been a site of interest when comparing tires for trucks and cars. According to their customer survey page, These tires are in their top five:

I have heard good things about the bridgestone's. I put cooper discover a/t on my truck, and I think its a little noisy, plus my gas mileage went down. Anyone else have their gas mileage go down?

I'm very happy with my BFG All Terrains, went up from the factory 265/75R 16 to 285/75R 16. I never really pay much attention to my gas mileage, especially since I like to get on it from time to time, so calculating my mileage is pretty useless. I feel that they're relatively quiet, as compared to say a Mud Terrain or something like that. I was listening to them the other day though, and I can see how some folks would consider them to be noisy. I feel that they're a great middle of the road tire...great in the mud and snow, but not so aggressive that they can't be driven daily on the street. Just my opinion.
