Well today when I got all my Christmas shopping done I jumped in my truck to go home, turned the key and nothing!! Looked under the hood and noticed that my battery terminal was almost rotten off. Called for a tow to take it to the dealership just down the road. Since I didn't have it scheduled in I waited for about 3 hours untill a "technician" could look at it. Got the battery changed out but now the radio doesn't work.........WTF??? There is no display where the clock is and I hear a ticking sound coming from the speakers?? I must have a short somewhere plus my aftermarket security system is all fu@#ed up! Maybe that could have something to do with it?? Not sure?

Any thought would be appreciated! Taking the truck to the dealership here in town tomorrow.

Well I dunno about the security system, but the first thing I'd check would be the radio fuse in the fuse panel. ???

I don't suppose the display reads "LOC" does it? This is probably the Theftlock system cutting out the stereo. If you don't have the code you may need to consult the dealer about how to unlock it. But check the fuse too, could be something simple!

Yup...we have a 2001 Z28 and that is exactly what happens. When you disconnect the battery the TheftLoc engages. You need to get a 4 digit code from your dealer (ours was written in the back of the manual) and will reengages the stereo. Good luck.

The radio isn't locked, there is no power at all to the radio.....not a d**n thing. I pulled the fuse out everything is the same. There is a "ticking" sound coming from the speakers and when I accelerate you can hear it through the speakers. Not a clue to what's going on! Keep the ideas flowing guys!

there may be 2 fuses for the radio, 1 for constant power and 1 for switched ignition power, be sure to check for both. some have a third for the bose amp.

Your right BBSilverado. I pulled the fuse for the radio from the fuse panel that's inside the truck........nothing happened still no power to the radio and still a ticking sound from the speakers. Looked in the fuse panel under the hood and pulled that fuse out for the radio.........ticking stopped but when I pulled the fuse out my tachometer, speedometer, odometer and fuel guage didn't work!! Now after I diagnosed everything that I can I think my radio is pooched. It must have got fried when the power supply was interupted. Good thing is that my truck is still under warranty. Still a pain in the ass though!

I hate to say it but this sounds suspiciously like someone did a reverse polarity hook up of a jumper battery. Usually more gets toasted than the radio, but not always.
