Heated O2 sensor

hello everybody.

I recently put on some hedmen long tube headers on my 87 3/4 4x4 with the 350 TBI engine (among other parts).

I got the timing finally adjusted correctly and the engine seems to run alot better a stronger.

I was told that since i moved the O2 sensor down furthur in the exhaust that it wont heat up as it has done in the past with the stock cast iron manifolds, thus, making the truck run more rich, crummy gas mileage (getting 8 mpg vs 12 before).

I was told that i should go to a heated O2 sensor.

Is this a wiring mess that i dont need? I know the sensor i have now is only a one wire lead that goes to a connector and that has only one wire as well.

any thoughts or comments?

thanks again.

the heated section of the o2 is only for cold start anyway i really dont think it would affect the mileage at all

but now that the motor can get rid of more exhaust it will run richer until tuned for the airflow that it has
