Hello, Its time Ive joined you all on this sight. I have been enjoying the articles for months now. This sight helped make the decision to say goodbye to the 96 Z71 ext cab. On Dec.8 we brought home our Avalanche, victory red, graphite leather interior,and all the toys only missing the sunroof. By far this is the utimate utility vehicle. My wife and two boys are in love with this unit.I am looking forward to contributing to the fourm, We are in Sask. Canada It will be interesting to see how everything operates when the temperature drops. Just love this truck.

Welcome to the site. I like the thought of the Avalance, but I use my truck for work, if they only had a way to put a ladder rack on one I would have bought one, don't really have a lot to put in the bed, bunch of boxes, do electrical contracting. Ladder rack capability would have sold me, just have to carry a ladder and some conduit sometimes. The bigger jobs the vendor delivers. Good luck on your new truck.

Your worrying about ladder mounts - I am still trying to get the mechanism for remote controlled dual mounted mini guns to work in the side cases

Congrats on the new Av. I also picked mine up Saturday night. I got Black Z71 with everything but the roof rack. So far about 190 miles. No problems yet and I am loving it.

Best UUV I ever owned! ;-)

I have 4200 miles with no problems so far, including no leaks.

Last night I picked up a Christmas tree. There was a family with a Blazer parked next to me there. While Dad and his son were struggling to put their tree on the roof rack I walked up to the AV with my 8 1/2 foot tree, dropped the tailgate and "changed" the midgate, pushed the tree in and closed the tailgate. They were still working on tieing up their tree as I drove away. Plus, I even got that nice evergreen smell for the ride home. Maybe I'll keep a fresh tree in back instead of buying one of those air freshners. ;-)

Congrats on the Av. Mine will hit 7,000 tomorrow (since Oct 1) with nary a major problem and about 20 mpg to boot. I am starting to get the dreaded ping, though.

Hey Dave (Sunset Z-71);

How do you like the AV tent? I am thinking of getting one. Did it come with the air mattress? Does it take any longer than a regular tent to setup and require two people?
