I'm at work and don't have my manuals w/ me to double check. but if memory serves me correct the IAT is in the MAF.

If I remember when I get home I'll double check and get color codes for you.

I don't know how well the IAT hack will work on the 5.3, But I did the IAT hack on a few Jeep CHerokee / Grand cherokee 4.0's and a Dokta 4.7 and it made a hell of a improvement in performance. Only draw back is that if you really wanted to take full advantage of the full gains I had to run premium full. although with the dial I could fine tune it on the fly.

Built 3 of them for less than $ 10.00 The most expensive part being the housing. I still have 1 that I pulled off my cherokee before I sold it.

I have the prints/plans to build if anyone is interested.

verified IAT is in the MAF

there are 2 wires for the IAT one is black color other is tan all are in the modular plug going to the MAF

the tan one goes to cavity 25 & the black goes to cavity 57 on the pcm wiring harness

hOW ARE GOING TO CONNECT ?

do you have a URL for the info about your product on e-bay ?

I would like to see if its the same as I built in the past for other vehicles.

here is a list of parts available from Rat Shack

270-288 case

271-1716 50k ohm linear potentiometer

274-407 control knob

275-695 DPDT rocker switch

271-1321 1K ohm 1/4 watt resistor

plus you will need hookup wire and soldering iron

this was posted a few years ago on a jeep forum several ran on dnyo and the results were from 8 - 10 rear wheel horsepower increase. about the same as a JET chip was producing at the time.

I cant say what results you may receive on other applications, I only used it myself on 2 jeep vehicles with the 4.0 6cyl and a friend put it on his dakota with a 4.7

What is the general idea behind the use of the IAT? I see it is adjustable, and the air temp on the dial, does it fool the computer into thinking the temp is different than it really is?

You are correct,. The IAT works off resistance which the PCM measures. By reducing the IAT sensor temperature (resistance) the PCM will enrich the fuel. On the jeep vehicles the PCM would also advance the timing. This was the basis of the Stage 1 JET PCM module for the 4.0 Jeeps
