I test drove a 1500 crew cab z71 and the DIC

didnt have the "instant" economy. It did give all

the averages and such but my 2004 2500 had

an instant mileage. Is it there and I missed it

or did "they" remove it???

Get a 2003 or 2004 cluster and you'll get it back. YUP, they did remove it. Strange.... Also, no DRIVER 1 or DRIVER 2 in the '05 cluster, or at least that is how it is in my original '05 cluster.

A number of '05 GM models have removed the memory recall function via remote, so that is why the Driver 1 and Driver 2 settings don't show. I would guess that you can still use the door buttons (haven't looked at an 05 that closely) to perform the recall. I think they got tired of people complaining about the settings getting 'lost', and decided that this would be the easiest fix.

GM has stopped adding things, they've just been taking things away the last few years, hood light, glove compartment light, footwell lights, side moldings on the bed, average fuel economy DIC, cabin air filters, to name a few.

Good job GM, if you can't fix it, just delete it. I love the Driver 1 and 2 options on the fobs. My fiance is 5'3" and I am 6'1". When we use our own fobs the seat, mirrors, climate control, and radio stations are already set for our likings. Yes I have had the memory problems too but it is still worth the occasional headache in my opinion.

My 2005 AV has the 1 and 2 driver keyfobs, but the instant economy is gone. Now I'm almost positive I drove another 2005 AV that did have the instant economy. :D

Why would GM do away with this option for the 05, but still have the remotes labeled 1 and 2. I'm going to find out tonight and let you know if the memory still works with the remotes.

Please check if they removed parts of the information center such as the instant" economy".

Thanks :D

It's not taking away it's called "value engineering". It means getting less for your money.

Yep! No more instant economy, driver 1 or 2 or memory key fob operation. If I'd known this was dropped, I would have bought the 2004 AV. :D Could I install a 2004 cluster and get some of these funtions back????

Well i am certanly not going backwards. I have instant economy on all 4 of my vehicles and use it to maximize my fuel economy and the memory 1&2 is important to me since my wife is 5'3" and i am 6'1" and its a pain to try to get into a vehicle that the seat is all the way up.

GM has lost my business until its returned.

GM are you reading this.

They take things AWAY and RAISE the price. Now that's what I call 'value engineering............for them.

GM would be smart if they had folks monitoring these boards, but no one has ever accused GM of being that smart.

FWIW--for those of you w/ an '05 and the TPS feature...at least your DIC will tell you exactly which tire is low on pressure; the TPS on the '04 DIC doesn't tell you exactly which tire is low on air.
