285's on 2500HD

Wanted to see how many people are running 285's and what they did to get them fit. Anybody know how to edit the poll answers. I made a mistake on the last answer . There is suppose to be a total of 4 answers

1. Trim and Crank t-bar

2. Trim only

3. crank t-bar only

4. nothing, they fit without any modifications

The only trim that was required on my truck was to the mudflaps. I also had to reshape the front side of the driver's splashguard. I did however trim the front airdam slightly because I am adding 8" wide wheels.

They were alreay on mine when I bought it. Looks like they fit fine. No signs of any trimming, but mine is also a 4x4.

My friend's dad has a 2005 D-Max. He had to trim alittle to fit his 285s.

Specify year and make, each model has different issues with bigger tires.

2005 2500HD 4x4 i herd they dont fit without a t-bar crank is this true?

No, my friend's dad only had to cut alittle out of the fender.

My dealer swapped out my 245's for 285 Revo's. All he did was crank the t-bars. No cutting involved. They do scrape just a little at full turn and only when backing out of my driveway...I'm pretty sure they scrape the mud flaps I installed.

Should be okay with t-bars only.

Just put 285's on a friends 05 2500 (stock rims) and mud flaps. Don't rub. We didn't crank the t-bars

i trimed a little bit at at the air dam on each side, thats it, easy fit, looks great!

How much would it of rubbed if you didnt trim a little?

I think each truck is different even if they are the same year/make in my opinion.

There's always someone who says they had to cut/crank to get them to fit then someone else who had no trimming/cranking at all.

Look at it this way.....If you really want the bigger tire don't let the trimming or the cranking deterr you. They both are minor if anything. Trimming the fender well sounds like a bitch but there's nothing to it. You can literally do it with a pair of industrial scissors without removing it from the truck. As for cranking, the added bonus there is that the truck sits level which looks better even on the smaller tire. Just make sure you get it aligned afterwards.

Of course this is all pure opinion. I cranked and trimmed to get 315's under mine and you can't even tell where the fender wells are cut. Looks bone stock. You can tell where the front air valence is trimmed but you may not have to do that with 285's.

My 2003 GMC 2500HD EC SB 4x4 fit 285's without origionally cranking my tbars. Though I did turn the bars up about a half inch to help level it out and to fix the tires rubbing when the truck was at full turn. But it wasn't really required to fit them on there, it only made it look better with the torsion bar crank.
