Howdy all. I am looking for an easy place to pass the antenna wire from my Sirius. I am running it down the windshield(from the middle), and need any easy place to access the cabin from the firewall. Any help would be appreciated.

I went through the rubber boot arouns the steering column where it passes through the firewall. Plenty of space and it stays a few inches away from the column.

Ok, this may be hard, but is there any chance you all could take a picture or two of what you did.

Also, how did you guys mount your units? I have been looking at teh "vehicle specific mounts" that are available. However, I would really like to rig something to mount it where the optional Onstar copntrols would be (I have the cubby, no onstar). Anyone done this?

I don't have Sirius radio (yet). I ran my wires for the Hella lights I have on my brush guard thru there.

Next to the firewall, just take a utility knife or a razor blade and cut a small slit, just barely larger than what you need and after your installation, on both sides, just put a little bit of silicone on your fingertip and glaze over the hole and wire. By doing both sides, you should get a good seal to keep water and air out.

Sorry, no pictures, I am running a supercharged Commodore 64 for a computer (not really, but almost as old) and this high tech stuff is out of the question. :seeya:

Sorry, no picc. It's real obvious though. Crawl under the dash and follow the steering shaft. It should pass through a large (4-6" diameter) black boot. Poke a hole and push a wire through so you can see where it pops out. You can also follow the steering shaft in the engine. A dab of silicone as others have stated and you are good to go.

As for mounting, I mounted my xm receiver under the second row seats along with 2 amplifiers :seeya: No problem with seats down either.

There is a kit for the XM Sky-fi that uses cell phone mounts, maybe there is something similar for Sirius. I helped a firend put Sirius in his 99 NBS truck, but he has a Kenwood strereo that controls the unit. Do you have the bucket seats with the full console? How about down on that where the door for the cd storage is? You would have to make a plate, and that might be kinda low to have the display. Worth placing there to see what it would look like.

Well, I ultimately went with XM for now. It was cheaper for the components(needed the receiver, home kit and boom box), plus they carry Nascar and MLB, at least for now. I ended up using the braketron vehcile specific mount. Very nice looking after the install. I will get some pics and post them this weekend. As suggested, I went through the steering boot. That thing is tough, I guess it should be for its job, LOL. All told, install took about 35 minutes including running and hiding the wires. I did it during my lunch break, LOL. Thanks all!!
