2005 1500 ext cab driver door ajar alert

First issue for my new truck.

 

No matter how hard (or easy) I shut the drivers door, when I start the vehicle and place it in gear, the interior lights come on and the DIC states, 'Drivers door ajar.'

 

I open and shut the door and all is fine.

 

Next time I get in and start the truck, the warning goes off again, until I open and shut the door.

 

Obviously under warranty, but was wondering if anyone had this issue and if maybe there is an easy fix.

That door is pretty big and it is moving a lot of air. On a new truck the weatherstrip is still really tight and will prevent the door from closing fully for a little while. My '02 did the same thing and the '04 is occasionally doing the same thing. Try cracking open a window before you shut the door as an experiment. It should close fully without the light on the DIC. If this solves the problem, the issue will go away once the weatherstrip/door seats. If not, I'd bring it back.

The switch is ni the door lach assembly and you shouldnt have a problem. I suspect a bad switch. Take it to the dealer. I have has an 00,01,03 & 04 all new and never had the problem.

This has been going on for about 4 weeks.

 

Since I wrote my question Friday night, it has not done it since. Go figure!!!!
