wheels and tires

if i mounted my new 285/75/16 bfg's on some 16x8 wheels with 4-4.5" of backspacing would it rub?  i know the 285's will fit on stock rims but will new wheels make a difference? truck is stock with tweaked tbars.  thanks a lot.

I think you may get away with it, although I have seen where some trucks have rubbing problems on sharp turns with that set up. Do you plan on ordering them online? You should go to a tire shop and see if they will mount them for you so you can see for sure. A 16x8 is fine, it's just the backspacing that kills you. I have a body lift, 285's and 16x8 Welds with 3.625 backspacing and they rub a little on a hard turn and a bump. When I had 4.625 backspacing they didin't rub at all. I think the stock backspacing for 16x8 wheels is 5.5, so 4.5 should be ok.
