Any Tahoe owners here?

Recommended Posts

Just found this board last night and thought I would drop in and do some reading. But, mostly the conversations revolve around trucks. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Any Tahoe owners lurking or should I go someplace else?

Thanks.

My wife owns a '99 four door LT model and loves it to death.

She already has almost 68k on it and the only problem to this point has been a leaking valve cover gasket which was fixed in about 30 minutes under warranty.

I already know that hers isn't as impressive as yours simply because the two door four wheel drive Tahoe/Yukon/older K5's are awesome vehicles but that's not to say she didn't want one like you have.

I had to convince her that it wouldn't have been the most practical vehicle fr her with all the driving she does and that's the only reason why she didn't get one.

Welcome to the site!

Before I was assigned to this one year tour in Korea, I had a 95 2 Door, 4x4 Tahoe.  Victory Red.  Loved it!  Sold it when I came over here, but when I get back, I have a 99 4 door, 4x4 waiting for me.  Although I don't think the 4 doors look as nice as the 2 doors, it is more practical, especially since I tow a camper and car trailer.  The extra wheelbase will add a bit more stability.

Just found this site. seems informative. Some may know me from fullsizechevy.com. I am a proud owner of A 96 Tahoe. It is currently in the body shop having numerous mods done. shaving tailgate handle, adding rollpan w/LED's shaving taillights, replacing front bumper, grille, and lower air dam w/driving lights. we are also going to be making the Ram Air II hood functional. then finally comes the paint and graphics.

whew..good to meet you all, especially the SUV owners.

check out my truck

newly updated body mod pics of taillight filler, and tailgate.

And yes, I've done the intake manifold gasket on my truck...lol

Thanks for the replys everyone! I like the 4 doors too but it is a little too large and in charge for me and my garage. I have to make room for the wifes car also. I plan to use my tahoe as a camping/towing vehicle here in Colorado. It replaces a manually transmissioned, 6 cylinder'd sport, manufactured by some company that starts with a F, and affectionately known as Barney. I won't miss that truck period. Thanks.

Hey all, first time visitor, first time poster.

I just bought a 2000 Tahoe with the Z71 package, bright red...I'm hoping to learn a little about if off this board. So far I love it, it's big and roomy and rides great. I just took it on a trip to Charlottesville (I live in N. Va) and it was flawless. It also nicely compliments the 94 Vette I have as well! :)

Anyway, guess I'll be lurking and reading for a while, just thought I'd introduce myself!

By the way, any idea what the Vortech does? I know they make superchargers, but this isn't that, it's just a box that sits between the air filter and the intake....some sort of impeller?

Hi Tom!

I remember you from the Corvetteforum!

"Vortech" is reffering to the engine. Thats what GM calls their truck engines. The superchanger comany "Vortec" is not affiliated with GM engines.

Hope that helps out! :):)

WELCOME TO EVERYONE!!!!!!

Hey Mervz!

DOH!!! Ok, so I never was a very good speller :)

That makes sense - if that's the best I can do knowledge wise I probably need to stay the heck out of the engine compartment for a while!

F'in Bob,

Here is a link to the Tahoe/Yukon forum that will also be filled with great info:

http://forums.vmag.com/suvtahyuk0301/

To Mervz and tomservo:

Mervz is on the right track differentiating between vortec and vortech.  But, vortec (WITHOUT the h) is actually the engine in the truck and vortech (WITH the h) refers to the supercharger company.  I know it seems petty, but it bugs me just about as much as people who use "a lot" as one word "alot".  Oh well, I digress, anyway hope that helps.

BIG BLUE
