Driver side seat belt tension

My '03 Sierra 2500 hd driver side seat belt is starting to not retract by itself. It will if I help it but I do not always remember to then it gets shut in the door. I have done no damage yet but it's surely coming. Can the retracting spring be wound another rotation to help this or does it not work that way? Does the seat need to be totally taken apart? I need to do this myself if possible, the warranty has expired. Truck has 47K miles on it.

Mine was replaced on my '03 under warranty at about 30,000 miles for the same reason. Shame you still aren't under warranty.
