DIC

good morning all.

i have the 03 Sierra SL (work truck) 4x4 4800. i started my truck this morning and it said that the oil needed changing on the DIC.

i have only seen two other messages on the DIC and i have no way of scrolling thru them. i have no controls on the steering wheel or dash.

the oil was just changed less than two weeks ago and is still a nice golden color.

how to i reset this?

is there any way to scroll thru the messages without the b uttons?

is not a big deal, just curious.

oh, by the way, the truck chimes and a message comes up when you leave your turn signal on too long, tells you which way is on..pretty neat!

I believe this is the procedure for the 99-02 trucks; I think it will work with the 03+ trucks.

 

Turn the ignition to run (do not start the truck) and depress the gas pedal, I believe, 3 times within 5 seconds. You should get some type of confirmation from the DIC. That's it.....

Yep,Do what vroten said,That will clear the message and reset it.

is there something written somewhere in a manual (chiltons/hayes?) that shows little tricks like this?

i am considering getting a Helms service (emissions/powertrain combo) for the truck just to have. never know when i want to put in a new cam..lol

It's in the owners manual and no it won't flood it.

I have a 03 Monte Carlo that uses the radio to reset the DIC. Check your owners manual, it should tell you exactly how this is done. If your truck does use the gas pedal method to reset the computer, you should not flood it out by doing it.

Yeah its in the manual, but I learned about it like you did. By reading this forum. Usually when you ask a question on here there are about 100 people who know the answer. This is another reason that owning a GM product is beneficial. No matter what the problem or question..... somebody on here will seem to know. There are GM techs on the board, parts guys, and people like me who have just owned these trucks. My 3rd Silverado since 99.

if you have an 03 then you have the electronic throtle body, so it doesn't matter how much you slam the gas before its started, nothing is going to happen.
