When i bought my 98 Tahoe, the control panel for the a/c and heat did not work right. I bought one off of ebay and it works fine now. When i intalled it i pushed the a/c button and the a/c came on and worked ok....i noticed it wasnt as cold as i would like it to be tho. Now when i push the a/c button the compressor does not come on and no cold air comes out. What could be the problem? Would it be that the freon is so low that it wont kick on the compressor so it dosent damage it? I dont know much about a/c systems so any help is appriciated.

Thanks

Sounds like you have a leak and the freon level is now to a point that the system pressure switch is not letting it run. (you did say that before it quit, that cooling was reduced)

Yeah, i figure that since the compressor didnt get to run almost all thru winter it developed a leak or there was already a leak some where. How many cans of R134a do you put in....and does that R134a with stop leak work, or will it mess up the hole a/c system.

One can of stop leak will not hurt it. As far as charge, one can of freon would be a good starting point and then go from there.

Ok...I went and bought a can of 134a with oil and stop leak already in it. It also came with a guage to show how much to put in. I put about 25-30 psi of the freon as it said on the guage and the bottle and the compressor still wont come on. I checked all the fuses and the ones under the hood and even took out the control panel in the dash again to make sure the wires were all hooked up right. Funny thing is...the rear A/C works..but the compressor dosent come on at all even with just the front set to max ac and the button pressed. What else could it be?

Thanks
