Spark Plugs

The plugs in my truck are original. I have about 42k on them. Local parts shop has Bosch platinum on sale. Anyone have any experience with these? I tend to stay with oem, but if these are as good or better than AC, then it is tempting. By the way, the left rear plug looks tight to get to, any suggestions for easy removal?

You don't say what kind of truck you have but if it's a nbs then your plugs should be good for at least 20,000 miles more. I changed my GM Rapid Fire plugs at 60,000 miles in my '99 5.3L and they were in mint condition still, clean and perfectly gapped.

Yes, it is a '01 with the 4.8L. My reason for wanting to change them out is I am trying to improve mpg.

On the left rear use a universal joint then a really long extension. Go behind the A/C condensor evaporator thing. It's how I did mine. Took all of about 45 min. Don't forget the anti seize goo.

Must be impossible to get accurate torque on that one.

I used bosch plats and noticed a rough idle after 2 months, took them out and put AC delco back in and didn't worry about them for 2 years.

I used bosch plats and noticed a rough idle after 2 months, took them out and put AC delco back in and didn't worry about them for 2 years.

I have tyhe Bosch Platnium 2 on my OBS. I had a set in before that had about 70k on them and never a problem. I like them personally.

I had some Bosch Platinum 4's in my '98 S-10 before I traded it and I really liked them. It only added a fraction of a mile per gallon and a little more pep but didn't cause any problems at all. I'm planning on puting them in my '03 4.8L when I reach about 50,000 miles. If they're on sale, I say go for it.

Oh, the S-10 was a 4.3L V6 5spd.

got a part number for those AC Delco spark plugs? i just bought a case of the PF59 filters. should have gone with plugs too but..opps...forgot..lol

truck is a 03 Sierra with the Vortec 4800.

What year truck do you have? I just changed the plugs on my '03 with the 4.8 in it. The only plug that gave me any amount of real trouble was the #8 plug because it was so close to the firewall. I had to put the plug socket on the plug then muscle the wrench and extension on. I then had to work the new plug all the way on finger tight and use the same procedure to tighten it up. It was a struggle, but I got it done.

I got bosch and they are great they quieted the engine down so much but then again I replaced the distributer, wires(bosch), plugs, and rotor so any of those probably did it

I have an '01 4.8L. I think I will do like asilverblazer says and use a universal w/extension. Interested to see what the plugs look like.
