RyanbabZ71 Posted November 9, 2001 Posted November 9, 2001 It dipped into high 20's last night. Go to my truck this morning open the drivers side ext cab door and it takes 3 slams to shut (gotta get that tsb done now) And then i go to roll my window down and its frozen shut. Anyone ever have this problem. Happened all the time when it snowed but it didnt snow.
Z71GUY Posted November 9, 2001 Author Posted November 9, 2001 Yep, the window freezing is common in most vehicles with power windows. My VW did it all the time too when I parked it outside. I think there might be something you can put around your window so it wont freeze as easily. Dont feel so bad about taking your truck in for all the stuff. I have 2 TSB's and 3 recalls (found out by running the VIN #, previous owner did not do any of them). I cant wait to see the service advisor's face when I bring in all this paperwork that needs done. Quick side question: I bought my truck from a chevy dealership. Why did they not do all the recalls before they sold the truck? Isnt that illegal, selling a vehicle when you know it has recalls that need to be done and you dont do them. I've also had the truck in there once before and you would think they would have run my VIN number to check the recall list...I guess not. Eric
RyanbabZ71 Posted November 9, 2001 Posted November 9, 2001 They think you should take the inititive I am also gonna take it in for the nickel plated yoke. I heard they are on Back order. I was gonna take it in wed but i have a study session for a test on thursday. Guess itll be first or 2nd wk of december now Oh yea also any of you gonna talk about how warm it is by you please dont!!!haha I dont wanna hear it. haha
chevy4x4trucks Posted November 9, 2001 Posted November 9, 2001 Same weather here, it was about 30 degrees when I left for work at 6:30 and the truck was caked in ice. I let it warm up for 5 minutes. I didn't have any problems w/ the driver's side door. I've got problem's w/ the ext cab door not sealing correctly though, although I get that all year, but even worse during the winter. It will howl as though not sealed correctly at freeway speeds. One good thing is that when I fired up the truck it sounded great, I wish the flowmasters were that loud all the time.
siume99 Posted November 9, 2001 Posted November 9, 2001 It's cold here too. I thought my truck would warm up quicker...oh well my heated seats come in handy. BTW how do I find out TSB for my Tahoe?
chevy4x4trucks Posted November 9, 2001 Posted November 9, 2001 http://www.geocities.com/crackeregg/gmsi.html Here's where you can get the TSB's. There used to be a link for it on the main page, must've dissapeared when the main format was changed.
silverado man Posted November 9, 2001 Posted November 9, 2001 or you can pm the forum me gmnewproductinfocenter and he will send you a copy of your vehicle history that shows everything that the dealers have done to your vehicle.
Z71GUY Posted November 9, 2001 Author Posted November 9, 2001 Yep, thats how I found out about my 3 recalls not being completed. That VIN info was very nice to see....tons of info. Eric
2000 GMC Posted November 9, 2001 Posted November 9, 2001 I know when I roll down the windows slightly on my truck you can hear the ice break. Might be because it's been getting into the single digits here in Anchorage. I try to let the truck warm up for 4 to 5 minutes. It's only going to get colder here. bbbrrrrrrrrrr
Kansas Kid Posted November 9, 2001 Posted November 9, 2001 Does anybody here think the 4 doors should be an option, instead of a standard feature? Given the choice, I wouldn't want them. Only thing I would use the rear seat for is storage, not for hauling people, so they are kind or pointless. Their just isn't enough strength and rigidity just isn't there without the solid B-pillar for my likes. Just look at the crash tests that have been done. The 4 door extended cab trucks don't do very well. I guess thats why I will only be buying regular cabs or crew cabs down the road.
96 Vortec Posted November 10, 2001 Posted November 10, 2001 I got Vent Visors on my truck and I have never had a problem with the windows freezing shut.

Does anyone want to take me in for the winter??? Ya, you can stay with me if you bring me one of those American flag decals for my bowtie emblem. LOL! Just think, you could be basking in the sun on the beach for the small price of a decal. SUCH A DEAL! Vic
chevy4x4trucks Posted November 12, 2001 Posted November 12, 2001 Hmmm, that sounds like a good deal. That would be funny if I showed up w/ the back of my truck full of all of my belongings and an american flag bowtie.
