Found that On my 04 burb when I push the tow haul button and then get on it. Its like an instant shift kit. Started telling some friends now there all racing around in tow mode. it shifts hard and tight and holds you out. Also it avoids overdrive gear and TC lock up.

check it out

I thought that the consensus on that was that it actually slowed folks by about a tenth in the 1/4 mile.

I dont' recall why. There was a pretty big discussion on it a long time ago.

It slowed my 1/4 mile times by about that last month. Of course they were nothing to brag about to start with (stock Avalanche Z71 with stuff in the bed on a day out at Beech Bend KY at a national club GTG - my best was about 17.2).

you should re-read the manual. it specifily says it will do NO damage. I use it going up hills, as it holds lower gear longer.

I just drive it like i stole it on a normal basis.  then the tranny programms itself to shift like that on a normal basis.

i use mine any time i've got over about 650lbs in the bed ( i have 1500, 4.8L). my truck seems to really appreciate the option when i'm hauling and making deliveries to customers...
